Is it a conspiracy that a new Tier of crafting up to level 500 is announced just after the BotFW consumes/dumps most crafting materials in the game for exchange of Quartz/excessive recipes/Kite Fortunes?

Seriously, I just dumped nearly my entire banks worth of ‘useless, excessive’ crafting materials. And now a week later A.Net announced that I’ll need those for future content updates when they’ll be adding 500 crafting in the next few months. <insert /facepalm here>

Is this a very ironic thing? I think not, but that’s just one insane conspiracy theorist’s opinion….

It’s not either, it’s just smart move from gaming company, give us more stuff to do. Same thing happened with WvW’s BoH. Tons of stuff were added so ppl would spend them > BoH were depleted > then ascended trinkets were added.

It will happen again I’m sure in other areas if you keep watch.

Well I can’t see the Tier1→Tier5 materials being any use getting from 400->500 anyway.

Considering I only dumped low end, easily farmed mats, I’m going to have to go with….no. Even having to take and level tailoring on my account, I have plenty left to do it with, and can easily obtain more.

Edit: I’m sort of a packrat, I tend to horde everything, so things like this become non-issues a lot of times.

The alternative is to add yet another currency. What they do now is to first correct the market before doing something with it. That way, the future items will be correctly valued.

Heh. It is kind of funny. Give us a way to toss all these ingredients away for chests, and then announce a potential use for those ingredients.

Considering this probably won’t be coming for months to come though, I think we’ll live. And getting rid of all those excess ingredients was still a good thing mostly. Having a bunch of worthless materials in the Trading Post really doesn’t help anyone.

Don’t forget that 500lv crafts will be limited by day. So you’ll get all the time you need to collect the necessary ingredients (exept if you’ll need kinda entire slot of things ^^)

Oh man, I can’t wait to see how much xp you get for 400-500. Based on the cost, I would assume you would get 5 levels just for 400-500. =D

Do this mean you dump all T6 material for fortune chest ? Seriously, I can only LOL hard.

Eh I save up all my mats as much as possible, so even with the quartz thing I didn’t dump because… I may need them.

Celestial gear sucks… why would you do that?

I suspect that charged quartz may be one of the account bound materials used for these future crafting projects. I doubt they would introduce an entirely new mat to only have it used in 1, soon to be obsolete, recipe.
