80 in 8h 42m :D
Bit disgusting to get levels that fast tbh.
Is this suppose to be impressive?
Not jelly, got two 80s and a 58 by actually playing the game.
Hi,
I just bought the game and downloading now. I was hoping leveling would take time and deliver lots of fun.
Is the game made to level fast (Like umm….WoW?) I hope not. :-)
How much did you spent on it?

If you actually take time to level up it takes on average 90 hours to get to 80. That’s clearing each zone as you enter it. Doing all hearts and any events you come across mixed in with some crafting and maybe some pvp.
8 hours is far from what is an average speed for leveling up a character.
i got two 80s (one warrior one guardian) 500+ hrs total
want to start a new warrior on Charr but dont have enough time (lvl.25 right now)
how much gold did u spend on buying materials for crafting?
Any guide for power leveling ? should i use craft booster ?
I guess there’s nothing wrong with speed leveling your character if that’s the goal you made for yourself. It’s kind of a “mini-game” of it’s own, and if you had fun doing it, then that’s fine…I won’t tell you how to play the game.
I will say that it’s not a method that’s for most people, since it defeats the purpose of the overall scope of the game, but at least you enjoyed it.
And your char’s lvl 80 will be still lowered in low lvl zones(((
It’s like a lot of other things you can do in life.
Some like to hurry and be done with it asap.
Others like to take their time and enjoy it.
Ask your playmates which way they like it best.

It’s actually wonderfully flexible. If you’re very keen to level up fast, there are shortcuts – such as focusing entirely on crafting, as this fellow has done.
If you play the game normally, and respond to whether or not you want to help someone/join in an activity, do your story at an appropriate pace, take time to explore and take in the world, it will take you a good while, all the time progressing smoothly and constantly.
Personally, I took a long time getting to level 50 and then rushed the last 30 levels because I wanted to get access to some of the top drawer weaponry and have an easier time exploring.

I’d cancel and ask for a refund from your CC company.
I say it like it is.
Am I the only one thinking of the practicality here? Have you learned all your weapon skills? Did you allocate trait points? Do you even have enough skill points to learn all your healing/utility/elite skills? What are you going to do about gear now that you’ve spent all your money on crafting? Do you even have Karma you can use? Do you even know how to play your character?
i agree with you , Leiloni
but how about someone who want to reroll the same profession on different race?
Impressive. Crafting really does allow you to level all the way at crazy speed, but you need a lot of past game experience, like the 300 hours you had before your 8 hour sprint

You can level with crafting to 80 that fast. The problem is that it requires you to level ALL Of the crafting which in turn requires MONEY.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

For someone who has been complaining about the game for months now, I would have thought you would have moved on to something else?

He needs to earn his paycheck from the fanboy office of another MMO.
A friend of mine got to 80 in 168 hours, where he didn’t really
explore much. He had like 36% world completion. I on the other hand,
who was like a level 56 or so I think, had 50% world completion because
I had used that same 168 hours to play the game ^^.

I’m 142 hours in with my wife and just now level 56. There’s a lot to see and do and I’m in no hurry. So no this isn’t about power leveling. The journey is fantastic and worth seeing all of it.

Sooo, I should stop responding to him.

Eat through content as fast as possible… next step – complain about the lack of content.

How much gold did you spend to level 1-80 by crafting?

The screenshot says “308 hours across all characters over two months.”
So he spent 8 hours on that character for giggles and 300 on the others.
Anyway every time somebody levels an alt this way I think of how much of a resource sink it is.
Allowing people to level super fast by spending a ton of Materials is actually pretty smart as the game isn’t that much about your level anyway.
Works on third alt before inevitable crafting exp nerf
gratz.
i dont see a problem with this,
the maps nerf your level most of the time anyway.
and pvp etc is auto 80.
i like the fact that there is an alternative to levelling via combat,
some players will love it.

I don’t expect to see one. This method has been widely known since early beta, there was an official ANet statement about it. They absolutely intended leveling crafting to give about 10 character levels per maxed crafting discipline, and there are 8 crafts.
It is a huge gold/materials sink though. Doing this leaves you with a full master crafter character but only access to 2 of 8 crafts at any time (to re-activate another costs 40 silver (iirc) each time you switch one) without enough skillpoints to even get one of the top tier elite skills, no unlocked weapon skills and no karma. Then there is the cost of materials, without an already leveled 80 to gather materials you’re looking at probably over $100 real money to buy all the basic/fine materials. Without any karma, you won’t even be able to craft your exotic sets, since the recipies for those cost close to 1k karma each.
It’s great for an alt, but anyone doing this for their first character have both my pity and laughter as rewards.
Got 80 lvl in 6 hour, spend crafting exp boost and buyed with gold mats.

I doubt it. The intent from day one was that it’s entirely possible to level your character through crafting alone, it just costs a lot more gold than leveling through other means.

i am guessing maybe the OP had to break for dinner. :p

It’s all in how ya play, ah course. This was jus’ some guy havin’ fun ta see how fast he could do it by workin’ the system – good for him, I say, so long as he had fun.
Me, I’ve been playin’ 220 hours give or take a couple an’ haven’ quite hit level 80 yet – spent allota time explorin’, lookin’ for puzzles, roleplayin’, etc. There’s no reason ta run to the end in GW2 like there is in other games … the game doesn’ “start at 80” like WoW players love ta say … the game starts at lvl 1. (though it really picks up in yer second zone about level 15)
So, levelin’ isn’ super fast and with the downlevelin’ system so you can go back and explore areas lower level than you, all hittin’ max level really means is yer not level gated for any ah the high zones.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

Playing in a normal way, doing stuff as you go, some crafting etc, like any other big mmo, then GW2 is the fastest game to level to 80.
I thought someone already did that, in 5h or under. 40g did it cost, think the person posted a video (30min long) about the accomplishment.
Gah, calm down @ everyone freaking out over how long it took him to get max. That level speed is only possible if you A) have a level 80 already who can supply you with mats/gold Have a friend to supply you with mats/gold C) Buy gems with real cash, convert it to mats/gold.
My first 80 had over 150 hours on it. I explored, took my time, read quest text, etc. I had FUN. If that’s what you want to do, do it. Don’t sit on forums QQing that someone else managed to do it faster when that isn’t even what you want!
gratz op now you can quit.
All I can say is ANet is missing an opportunity here. Instant level 80 characters in store for those who can’t enjoy the ride and only want to get to destination. :P

The OP already had 2 80’s to begin with. If you start your first toon you will never be able to do this since you simply lack the crafting mats and gold to do so.
But still i dont think it should be possible to level a alt to 80 in 8 hours through crafting.
I remember reading on reddit about a week ago that a guy managed to do it in 4 hours. i cant find the post atm ><. Thats still amazin tho, how much did it cost?
you still have to discover waypoints and explore the map if you want karma farming.

That was by abusing a exploit in the game.

They already nerfed crafting exp quite heavily. They aren’t likely to do it again. It’s by design that raising a crafting profession from 1 to 400 will gain you exactly 10 levels no matter what your current level is.
