80 tomes of knowledge = 1 lvl 80 boost
Yes please that level up sound spams in any city is really annoying.
Why not 79 Tomes for one boost?
Been suggested many times and it made too much sense so A.net just decided to sell it in the gem store for an insane price.

First, it doesn’t necessarily make sense, because it only happens once per character. Second the 2000 gem item is for people that aren’t overflowing with tomes. I can’t imagine spending that much, but then again, I have plenty of tomes.

Thirdly, 2000 gems is far from an “insane price”. It’s a lot cheaper than max level boosts in other popular MMOs… I’d rather spend the $25 here than the $60 for max level on other games.
It would be only 78 tomes because you’re lvl 2 when you leave any racial tutorial instance. However nothing about that equates to a fully geared character, or a reason to trade for something when you already have the things that make you lvl 80. So just a flat out no. What you’re asking for isn’t the same.
i’d be up for an option to create an insta-80 tome, but not the level 80 boost and its bonuses. like… the level 20-30-40 scrolls we get from birthdays, the ability to craft those from tomes would be nice, instead of needing to spam a single tome over and over.
yea, as said before, theres quite a big difference between 80 (78 actually) tomes of knowledge and a lvl-80-boost. since you get a full set of exotic gear from the lvl-80-boost.
but an instant-lvl-80-tome would be nice.
just like theres already the possibility to sell 20 writs of experience for 1 tome of knowledge
Simple solution to add an NPC which trades these tomes for other character items (not the same as shard trader). just as with all the endless other currencies.
well na it would have to be more tomes than 80 otherwise it makes tomes redundant, because tomes dont give you items etc where as the 80 booster does
We wouldn’t actually need any new items at all… just an option to right click the tomes and say “consume X tomes”… When using this option, only relevant levelling loot should be available and it should be added automatically to your inventory so you don’t have to spam the stupid “you made a level” token in the corner…
About the Scrolls of knowledge: Isn’t this item completely irrelevant to the game? I mean, sure, I might have used one or two of them, but rly… I’ll never need another and I have a lot of em just gathering dust… it’d be nice if we could just sell them of half the amount of tomes of knowledge or something?…
Leave it to A-net to decide whether the suggestion is possible or not.
They could just change the tome so that when you double click on a stack, a box appears asking how many you want to use. Probably less work.
I rather like the sound of dinging and not just my own.
But aside from that, why would you want even more convenience when pooping out a fresh 80 when it is already this effortless?
How many 80’s does one produce per day? I mean if it was about a factory churning out 80’s by the dozen each hour…
The never ending hunger for more convenience never ceases to amaze me :/

Yes, isn’t it awesome how developed we are as society so far, driven by that hunger? If we weren’t that lazy (just another word for it :P ), we would still plow fields with our own hands.
The idea with the right click to select the number sounds easy to implement. We already have such a counter for splitting items.
Nope. You are wrong.
1) You need 78 ToK (You get 1st level instantly and you have to complete 1st mission and then you get 2nd level)
2) 80 level boost gives you a lot of bonuses like free 80lvl gear, many items like Revive Orbs etc etc.
A right-click “consume all” similar to what we have for stacks of luck would probably be simpler to implement.

That could work as well.
+1 here for roll up scrolls.
The advantage to allowing the scrolls to roll into 80s though also reduces inventory space for the current stacks. I know its a personal choice thing but having the back stock helps for things like expansions where you might want to suddenly add 9 new toons.
Would also be good with if the level 80 booster skipped all the unlock chests. Actually would almost prefer personally since we can’t salvage a majority of that gear anyway. But I could see others that might use the gear in the chests though I think vets that are doing this already had intended gear ready to be made.

I think this kind of lazyness (you said it first) is hardly comparable with the progress our ancestors made. In the case of your example i’d say ‘increasing yield’, among other things, was a bit higher on the priority list than relieving lazy farmers.
“Consume all” is no good since you may not want to consume them all, it’s far better to make a stack of ToK ask how many you want to consume, or if you are under level 80 to ask if you just want to boost to 80. Being able to specify an amount to use is a far better QoL upgrade since you can then boost to 35 or 53 for mule/bag opener characters easily.
Still don’t know why people says you can get a level 80 character daily. Been playing for 2 years and I’ve never had a Time overflow, maybe because I never do WvW… And still there, I get one time every 40 minutes or even an hour.
It’s useless for me since I have countless lv40 scroll.
Why should I waste 80 tomes when in reality we only need 40 of them to begin with?

You can keep clicking then.

Took me less than a minute.
Big deal.
this would be really nice. I have been slowly accumulating tomes across all my toons and 2nd stacks are starting to appear.
at least make them needed in some sort of high end recipe. then I wouldn’t feel so bad about deleting them.

Pretty easy to split a stack with the Alt key though. Split it into the stack size you want and then right-click and consume all.

You know something about what you said about deleting them tripped the mind. Maybe we are thinking about it wrong. I think a lot of us packrats hang onto them in case we need them (full bank row of stacks a little bit ago). But if we use them and are not leveling then they become their currency form as a spirit shard. So why not just have them be instant spirit shards on acquire and then allow players to spend spirit shards if they want to use them to level. Trying to think if there are any crafting/guild upgrades that need them, I think some were used for the guild hall so that might need some thoughts of ways back.

Better option would be to let us convert them to leveling scrolls.

There are those who PvE only and not much other content so they may not get tomes at all or at the very least rarely. Someone wants to shell out the cash for gems…gold for gems to get to 80…why not?
AS LONG AS TOMES stay in the game so those who use them are not at a disadvantage to the money sinkers.

I mean, I love having to hide in a pond in the Grove so I don’t annoy everyone to death when I level boost a toon, but YES PLEASE. Good idea.
I agree with a consume multiple drop down. Nothing else. A level 80 boost is a different thing.
maybe as opposed to a level 80 boost, make them into level 20 Boosts, that way its 4 double clicks to 80th, and it’s still usable for people that may have a few experience scrolls sitting around.
Im just gonna leave this here for all those people complaining about click syndrome.
You can literally doubleclick anything with the press of a single button and its not a macro. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14204/windows-7-use-mouse-keys-to-move-mouse-pointer
I don’t mind clicking 79 tomes, it’s actually fun to see people’s reaction when I power level infront of them. What triggers me is the level up rewards that you have to clear 1 after another for 79 times.
I thought it was crazy when I saw the price of them on the gem store. I’m not paying that much for one level 80 boost when I have a mess load of tomes and various other leveling items clogging my bank. They only people that will buy them is new users. It should be a crafting item.
If they wanted to sell something they could sell a max core mastery boost for that amount.
An option to combine them so they would level based on the number in the stack would be good. Stack of 16 would boost you 16 levels from your current level when applied to a character.
Why not just a “consume all” feature for tomes? You get the exact same effect without messing with anything but adding a feature to an item that already exists in game.

It’d be awesome if consume all came with a animation where your character lifts off the ground glowing like it’s receiving a gift from the gods.
