Hello, since i started playing mmo’s there’s always been something that i think it’s a problem…

whenever i get any kind of loot i think to myself, i might or i will need this later.

Lately, and more than ever in Gw2 i have seen alot of people with the same collecting problem/disorder call it what you want, maybe there’s even a scientific name for it.

Soo here’s just a glance of what i’ve been collecting, and if you guys are doing the same

WOULDN’T you love a tab for it in the bank???

Did you ever see one of the tv shows like “Hoarders: Buried Alive” about people who can’t seem to throw anything away, even if it’s objectively useless like stacks of 10-year old newspapers?

Essentially this would be the virtual version. I have a different way of dealing with it, I sell anything I don’t need right now and invest the money I get in more things to sell. Then any time I need to buy gear for an alt (I have 17 character slots so that happens a lot) I just use whatever coin is available right now to gear up the toon with whatever I need.

The nature of the TP means that unless you are looking for specific luxury items like Ascended or Legendary gear, you can pretty much get hold of anything you need instantly. There’s no reason to keep something that you might need someday when you can sell it, use the money to make more money, and rebuy it for cheaper a few months from now.

Yes i have seen these shows, and i agree with you because i tend to do this only in virtual worlds.

Selling the items/materials to get make and then use the money to buy and re-sell is a good idea too, i do that aswell but from the money i get farming for example dungeons not from mats. Currently i have 300g invested in some items that in the next few days i will get something like 1.5x

Thanks for the reply

Thankfully I don’t have that issue in this mmo. By nature I’m a bit of a hoarder in game for materials but here if it doesn’t had a special tab it’s likely useless and even then materials are so closely balanced with it’s finished product I’m better of selling the raw materials and buying the item off tp

I sell anything I don’t need right now.

Owwww you must be kicking yourself about the silk scraps!

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

No.

If I had a crystal ball I could buy X,000 of such-and-such, hold on to it for several months, then sell it at the right time. A lot of people have stacks of materials squirreled away on various alts and bank tabs in case of opportunity.

If I wanted to see how high my bank account could go, I’d do that. But playing the TP is, for me, only a side effect of playing the game. I like to try out different races, classes, weapons, etc. and explore the personal stories and so on. So I use the TP as a source of coin to gear up my alts, and not as an end in itself.

So I’m not concerned with what the next “hot” item will be, or how to dump massive amounts of it into the TP at just the right moment to make the maximum profit. I don’t have stacks of back skins waiting for the time when they are “in” again and sell for 100x their original cost. I just buy stuff, sell stuff, and use the money to play the game.

Plus this game isn’t exactly demanding for blowing gold. Sure things can get expensive over time but most items can be bought fairly cheap while it’s still available
