Anet. You keep adding or making things you think we want and ignore many of the things we ask for.

One of the largest items we have asked for is a Trait Saving System.

Now people have insisted that it should do armor and weapons and trinkets and everything else under the sun. That’s fine and you could work towards that over time.

But to start. Right now you could just make a Trait saver. Nothing flash, nothing over the top. Just something that will let us save our builds.

By not making this even after your own poll asking what we want the most, you (Anet) show us no respect, in that, while you ask what we want you don’t want to actually do it.

Come on Anet it’s way past time for this feature.

tbh yeah. If they could program a trait saver into their first game over a decade ago, not sure why it can’t find it’s way into this game.

Build saving and 4 weapons slots (*) are probably the things GW1 players miss the most. That would add so much diversity to our playstyle…

(*) You’d probably have to disable sigils with stacking bonuses when swapping weapons though.

Unless I’m mistaken, I believe they’ve said they’re working on this feature. It’s not instantaneous when they decide to implement a feature like this.

It takes time to develop and implement.

This would be a nice addition to the game, but I hardly think that everyone wants or needs it. Power players do. But there are people who set a build and never change it also, or almost never change it. I’m one of them. I agree it would be great for people who change builds.

At this point I’m not bothered by a lack of build saving. Most builds I use I can remember.

Of course not having this feature may be one of the main causes for this. If you make it hard enough people won’t do it and at the moment changing traits and builds, especially for casuals is just too painful to do.

It’s not so much memory as the tedium from having to manually swap out all the armour, weapons, accessories and changing traits. Due to this I’ve arrived at an all purpose build that I use for everything. I’d like to try different builds but I’m not dedicated enough to carry all the bits and pieces with me and swap them around repeatedly.

This is a feature that I would appreciate. I’m not saying it’s a dealbreaker if it doesn’t get implemented, or that I need it now, but it would definitely be very handy. Especially if you like PvP, dungeons, and raids.

Guys like me are just lazy. I don’t care how easy it is, I’m not likely to want to learn a bunch of builds. Nothing to do with build saving. Everything to do with saving brain cells.

…and I have a toon of each available class, so it’s 54*9 = 486 difficult things to remember.
And there are others with even more toons.
I agree, fixing bugs should have top priority for A.Net, but looking at GW2’s history and the kittenload of bugs that are still ingame since release, I gave up hoping for this.

So yes, I strongly support this reminder, a pure trait saving tool would be a huge QoL improvement. I’m fine with manually changing my armor set (99% it’s the decision of selecting the full zerk or full condi set anyway; oh, and sometimes a special WvW set, but that’s it), but being able to save trait templates would be golden.

This is how I see it also. For me the process starts with figuring out what kind of character I want to play. Then I select profession that offers that playstyle. After selecting profession I select weapons and armor that fit the role. Lastly I pick the traits that support my playstyle.

You can’t really change one thing without changing another and the trait system with its simplicity (3 decisions per specialization) is the least of my worries.

Well tbh, I’m all for this, for once, I don’t usually agree with many things that are posted on these forums.

But if they implement something like this, we should have the chance to have multiple sets of armor setups that are easily attainable instead of keeping all these bloody sets in my inventory.

I would if it was an account wide unlock, not on a per character base. I have 5 toons i play across, 2 bank toons i might at some point level and gear in full ascended, and still yet to make a warrior or a guardian. I dont know if it was on a per toon basis unless i absolutely needed it.

But, as the Devs have already said they are working on this, it’s kind of a moot point, anyway. /shrug

I do not care about this, I prefer new gameplay and casual content to play. That said plenty of people want such a feature and it should have been added years ago.

Sometimes I feel Arena Net only ask what we want just so they can mock us when they give us something completely different and unwanted.

The real strength of the GW1 system was the way you could share your build in chat or online. So you could google a build then just paste it to your toon. You still had to understand how to use it but it made it easier to play and share builds and learn the skill synergies. I get a bit frustrated with the lack of variety with the GW2 system, where the main skills are set by your weapon choice.

Any form of saving/loading skills would be most welcome but I’m not sure how well it will work with the GW2 system.

I personally find something this as not needed, but I’m happy they are working on it for those who want it. Meta doesn’t change much and it isn’t to hard to redo traits. But for those who for some reason change it often I hope this comes soon for you. Knowing me I’ll probably use it anyway, haha.

Come on Anet it’s way past time for this feature.

To reiterate what gaile or another knowledgeable staffer posted in the last few weeks, just because you’ve heard nothing about something the majority of people ACTUALLY want doesnt mean they’re ignoring it. It means they dont have any god kitten information to give you about it. A “build wardrobe” could be in early stages right now, but frankly I dont mind anet not saying a single word about it. Ever read about the kittenstorm that showed up after Anet make noise about a precursor scavenger hunt (that we do have in game now) few years ago?

edit: found gaile’s post

@ Gaile Gray – However by that logic if lots of people are saying something on the forums or in game and we don’t see it in the patch notes is it reasonable to assume it’s not being listened to? Because that’s what it feels like much of the time. And since there’s no way to tell without dev comments what’s being payed attention to people tend to assume they’re not being listened to unless told otherwise, and then when patch notes hits and doesn’t list a change to what they were talking about it confirms they’re being ignored instead of perhaps something just not being ready to release yet.

No, it’s not reasonable to make that assumption. If changes are not made, that is in no way an indication that (1) the devs are unaware of a situation or (2) they are willfully choosing to ignore reasonable and practicable feedback.

The fact that something is not changed could be related to the fact that the suggestion is not reasonable, is not practical, or or cannot be achieved in a specific timeframe but may (or will) happen in the future.

Random examples:

  • Not Reasonable: I say “Give Ranger pets +1000 to their skills!” Ok, clearly that’s just not reasonable.
  • Not Possible: Someone says “Give everyone access to limitless inventory space.” This is technologically impossible. Or, someone suggests, “Give everyone who bought your base game in 2012 every expansion pack for free, forever.” That completely ignores the costs of development over the years and the general costs of keeping the lights on.
  • Not in This Timeframe: Someone says “Make changes to ZYX!” Well, as you know, changes happen all the time, and the fact they didn’t happen in January doesn’t mean they are dead in the water, simply that more time is needed to develop them.

As I said, those were off-the-cuff examples, but the main point is that feedback given is not an order placed, but an idea shared. Whether it comes to pass is dependent on many factors, as I’m sure you can appreciate.

I agree 100%, but then what incentive would there be to buy bash slot and bank tab expansions.

I would love this feature. My first toon a necro I always carried a condi and zerker armor set and all weapons. Now I just wear zerker and never change play style because I don’t want to screw with it. I have 6 toons now and the only one that carries two armor sets is my mes because I haven’t decided how to play, PU condi shatter and zerker phantasm are both so much fun. Sadly I will have to pick one.

To my original point I’m not throwing money at a bag slot or bank tab but would pay if they gave us an add on that gave us a place to store another set of armor, two weapons, trinkets and traits. Easy build switch button. i imagine a large number of us would. Something like 600-700 gems per toon or 2000 account wide sounds fair.

I agree…. Account Based not Character Based.

I have 12 characters, 7 of which I play regularly. My Main (Ranger) alone has 4 sets of Ascended armor which I regularly switch depending on what I am doing and within that I can make micro changes to the traits. Nearly everyone of the other 6 has a set of Ascended or I am in the midst of making them a set.
