Q:
Considering the possibility of Guild Wars 3 wont be happening soon.. But also the fact that e-sports are now BIGGER then ever and will only get bigger and more popular in years to come.
Because ARENA NET has some of the best and the most talented developers and artists in the gaming industry . I would love to see them create a NEW and original Action PVP Esport game !!!
They already have the experience of creating an unique PVP with Guild Wars 1 and 2 . Creating an new IP or based on the ideea of Guild Wars sci fi universe (could be part of the same universe as Tyria) where the Champions of the best Guilds in the galaxy fight for glory.. I Would love to see what new and exciting alien worlds and unique game mechanics ARENA NET would Come up with !! Would you guys be interested in playing an brand new Action PVP Game from A-NET ?

A:
MMO PvP has never gone well. People want to be able to jump right in to it, and MMOs simply don’t support that. Just the idea of it being an MMO will turn people away, because MMOs in the past have been about grinding PvE for gear to roll people in PvP. They’d probably have better luck selling SPvP entirely separate as its own game (not even titled GW, but rather something like heroes of tyria), more so if they dropped gear and builds and instead relied on preset heroes. Note what all of the popular PvP games have in common.
ArenaNet was originally about team combat and they’ve always wanted to get into esports, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were thinking about a MOBA; GW2’s combat setup was based on it. However, ArenaNet is usually against stuff like that because they want to be different from everyone else.
Why would the Raid Team lie about it? If one doesn’t believe what the Devs state, why bother? There would be absolutely no use seeking or perusing any kind of information.
When they revealed the size of the raid team, they were being a little misleading. The core raid team may be small, but they’re not the only ones working on raids. Shared developers, like artists, modelers, effects, sound, programmers, etc, also work on them. It doesn’t really matter, but they could potentially be pulling extra resources from other projects, the more popular likely getting priority.
“Would you guys be interested in playing an brand new Action PVP game from A-NET ?”
No. I’d prefer they spend their dev hours and the money we spent on expansion/gemstore items making content for this game.
@justafleshwound they could continue making content for GW2 and also develop another game .Considering they are different genres its in their best interes to still create new content and get revenue from GW2 . using the same model as Blizzard or HiRez Studios
I’d rather they work on the PvP system already in game.
It’s not fun with all the damage/high sustain/spam stuff we’ve got. Conquest gets boring after a while. WvW is, well, he who transfers wins, or outnumbered on all maps, sort of enjoy it, but there’s too much Ktraining going on. Anet can expand and improve PvP in this game.
It seems there are concerns that the Devs are hard-pressed to deliver content at a pace desired by this game’s playerbase.
I doubt removing some of the studio’s already-stretched-thin resources to another game would be welcome.
@Haleydawn
The thing about Guild wars 2 being an mmo it has to focus on many aspects like PvE. WvW .PvP . Raiding .. making an game focused only on pvp would bring many new oportunities, and less limitations that an traditional mmo bring . I loved GW1 PVP back in the days it felt very fresh for me at the time ,especially the fact you could jump in at max level and have skills already unlocked and equipement and it created an even playing field where skill and build where the important factors
Heart of Thorns was very successful????
@inculpatus cedo they can start with a small development team and work their way from their on up… if small studios like HiRez could do it with Tribes Global Agenda ,Smite ,Paladins ,Smite tactics why not ANET . they sure have an amazing talent it would be a shame if they wouldnt experiment new things
Have you read any of the threads about the small development team that creates Raids? Lol.
I would rather the studio keeps all hands on deck, personally.
Good luck.

Anyone who thinks that gw2 can divert the resources to make and fully support a
different game and not have the flow of new content in this game take a hit is dreaming.
In addition, there have been no signs that this games pvp is liked enough to support another game.
Yea most of this amazing idea could be/already are implemented in the pvp system they already have

They could.. no they could not. Anet is already understaffed as is. Theyve proven time after time theyre capable of making epic stuff, but not multiple stuff simoultaneously
Hey Machy here is a better idea let Anet continue on with their own E sport leagues, maybe if you are good enough you can join them. They do have tournaments with cash prizes of $200,000. They are featured on Twitch TV including all the older matches. They also can be seen on youtube.

Yep, I wondered if they did it all themselves or if they roped in a load of people who were supposed to be working on WvW, sPvP and PvE. The fact that the ’big WvW update vanished soon after was suspicious.
I have heard that some people who left anet may be working on two PvP esports games similar to that suggested by OP.
Considering Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns is a very succesfull game both in sales and active player numbers.
Since when ? It was only active because every player that didn’t have hot was handicapping himself since everything that was good about base game was FORCED into hot – like guilds that were once in base game now require hot; Also handicapped since there is no balance between base classes and hot ones – but that is a very smart move from their side – for pvp and wvw you are FORCED to purchase hot. Also they moved GW to f2p model even futher forcing hot sales since its now GW:HoT instead of Guild Wars 2.
Was it succesful – hell no, but all those “changes” forced players into hot.
And people are very excited for the next Guild Wars 2 expansion .
Now are they ? Or did they learned their lesson from HoT “expansion” release.
Neither me or my friends are excited nor hyped about next X-pac, only recently HoT started to goind into right direction – year after release so…
So getting excited about next x-pac is “not wise”.
Lastly – no, they should focus on GW because it started to moving on the right track instead of some GW’s baztardos son.

Yes i know. TBH i prefered the GW1 PvP System and also sadly gw2 e-sport viewer numbers are very low.the game has also a lot of visual clutter and is not easy for everyone to spectate

Details and links please ?
@Serios7083 Are you refering to the Amazon Game Studio`s BREAKAWAY , if so it was one of the insiprations of this post… i saw it played on twitch once and couldnt stop watching for hours… i had no ideea it was made by former ANET developers.. Cool !

The sales of the expansion were good because everyone was hyped. The churn rate thereafter was not good, because people were not satisfied (or rather, blatantly upset by the expansion content) resulted in huge player and income losses to ANet.
I’d never trust ANet with another PvP-based game ever. Way too much ineptitude in the design decisions in this department.
Yup. I’m very interested how much new expansion will have success with pre-order considering how happy and satisfied players are with HoT.

Yep, have seen that before and how much sales have dropped off. Not very successful at all right now. Nor are all happy with hot, which you can see by just reading the forums on a regular basis. Hype is one thing, if you like the game have fun !

Most of those ex-ANet employees are working on Crucible, not Breakaway or New World. We haven’t seen Crucible yet.
TBH whats the point in even preordering the next xpac? All the stuff that was available as bonuses for HoT was still available at the last 50% off sale except the character slot and it was all 50% off…save the 35$ and buy the $10 character slot and wait for the 50% off sale.

Crucible Reveal ~ Amazon Game Studios
this is exactly the type of game i was thinking of ,even taking the concept a lot further !
Ok can we close this thread now idk why we’re talking about another game made by people who used to make this game if you wanna talk about that game go to their hype threads dont try to recruit people to play with you.

The thing about game development is that someone has to pay for the development of a new game. As it is, NCSoft no longer publishes GW2 — ANet assumed that responsibility some time ago. Now, if NCSoft were interested in supporting ANet in setting up a PvP only game, well, they’re free to work that out with ANet management. Given that they still wholly own ANet, I doubt they’d be interested in a third party assuming that role. As of this date, there is no word that NCSoft is interested in ANet doing anything but producing the next expansion.
If NCSoft isn’t going to front the cash, that would leave ANet needing to find the resources to do so. As it is, ANet is apparently funding continued development for GW2 out of the game’s revenue. Unfortunately, their efforts don’t seem to be enough — either in quantity/frequency or quality — for a lot of GW2 players, to the point where gem store revenue has dropped off. Taking devs off GW2 development cannot make that better and in all likelihood will make it worse.
I doubt this idea would happen.
Because ARENA NET has some of the best and the most talented developers and artists in the gaming industry .
I’m not seeing this.
I have better idea. Seperate all three game modes and balance the game already.

NCSoft already have one Moba title in development
MASTER x MASTER so far from what ive seen it looks kinda okay, the ideea of having a shared universe with other NC Soft published titles is nice . So maybe if MASTER X MASTER does okay in terms of players base and revenue NC SOFT might be interested in other original Moba /Esport games
