Because we can’t be angry about both?
This is a question to clarify moderation so that I don’t misstep. Thank you for understanding.
How do I know when I should post to an old thread about a topic or when I should start a new thread about that same topic? Does getting a thread locked count against me?
Because we’ve recently been redirected to posting in massive megathreads about some topics, and others have been locked and we’re directed to start a new thread. Is there some logic to this that I’m missing? Or is the lock considered “no harm; no foul” and we don’t actually need to know, so long as we follow what the moderator says in the lock?
Usually you dont get an infraction for a necro thread, they just close it and send you a pm that the thread is closed. No harm done.
Official Feedback megathreads are also something different than old topics opened by players.

Wanze is pretty accurate on this one. We don’t infract on necros, unless you are intentionally necro’ing numerous threads to troll or cause unrest. When a thread is a necro, it warns you ahead of time about responding to it, so you do take a chance that the thread will shut down anyway. Especially if you just write /bump.
The Feedback threads we designate on patch days are incredibly important so we can get as much information (good, bad, broken, bugs, whatnot) as possible without the Dev Team spending time looking all over for the feedback. Specific staff will be looking for the feedback pertaining to their job. As example, we try to forward all bug reports to the bug forums so QA can track it and submit. They’ll be the first to notice the patterns and get the ball rolling.
Does that help?

So how often will we have to bump/necro the mega server and other feature patch threads before we get a meaningful response?
Or alternately…. if we pretty much never will you may as well lock them, because leaving them open like that with no hope is a little cruel.

I believe, at this point, its safe to say that they’re not allowed to give a “meaningful response” on anything related to the 4/15 Feature Pack – Or they would have done so already. Danicia has replied promptly to questions/posts that she is allowed to comment on.

You won’t get a response to most of the comments, the purpose is to collect feedback, not to engage in a dialog that will quickly turn into a shouting match.
From what I can tell there’s at best broadly defined rules and at the end of the day it comes down to what the particular mod feels and interprets within regards to the particular rule. So yeah, go for it and see what happens at worse you get a lock.

I remember that “Fractured” patch day thread … god did you use the valuable feedback we gave you!

Thank you Danicia and Wanze. This does help clarify. I’m going to report the thread to be locked so it doesn’t devolve further.
