A big reason why I like April 15th patch
One little perk I’ve enjoyed is never having to visit the HoM again. It used to be I would put off going there to pick up the armor and weapons because of the loading screens. Now I can put HoM armor on any character, any time I choose (of course, still free of cost), and I use it often on my newly-made throw-away characters.
Another great bonus: Using any dye on new characters! So much better with all those choices. =)
Interesting, but I’m just about on the opposite side of the coin from you on the removal of obstacles to re-rolling your ranger. I have yet to re-roll a character (just keep creating more of them…got 20 currently) and discarding a ranger for a guardian would be close to the last thing I’d consider. So far, the only character I like less than my guardian (that is lvl 80) is my elemental that I haven’t been able to level past 55 so far.
My favorite parts of the feature pack update have been the dyes (nice that all 20 of my chars can share them), wardrobe (ditto), and the megaserver. I’m mostly a solo player, but I like that when I’m out and about with a toon I don’t feel all alone most of the time, and there’s often others around to help with some of the difficult stuff .
I love the feeling of not being alone in the world any longer. It’s finally a massively multiplayer game again.

I’m loving the wardrobe. I’ve changed the looks from slightly to dramatically for all my characters. I love that some of the town clothes can now be used as outfits all the time. I love the account dye system. And I like the megaserver most of the time. It’s nice to have populated areas all over the place. Especially Orr.
I have to say that my favorite part of the patch is the effect of the mega servers – seeing lots of people in the world again. Perhaps it is just my imagination, but this seems to have been accompanied by a sense of social interaction that is reminiscent of the beta weekends…players helping and interacting with other players.
The downside of the mega servers…and certainly not a fatal flaw for me…is that the Jormag fight is no longer doable for me. After four days of trying…and dc’ing three of those four days at the 10% mark, I have given up on Jormag. This, however, seems a small price to pay for the new level of activity. Overall…am very happy.
my only real objection with the patch is the change in when and how you get traits. fine with unlocking them but the implementation of that needs more thought as well.
oh and i could do so much more with permanent skin unlocks -per item- while keeping skin unlocking in general as it is now
other than that? the patch has been awesome. plus, it actually improved my chances for rp, although i do sympathise with those it hit on that front
Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
Hannah, that’s a very small part of the feature update, and a very personal reason you like the patch. Good, you like it. I don’t think that’ll translate well to why others like or dislike it though.
You’re happy that Ascended went account bound. I’m pretty sure we can all agree that’s a good thing, along with no repair, and no trait swapping fees. It’s the way Traits are being handled and the Boss schedules that are the contentious points.

The only thing I could enjoy so far were my 1148 dyes and the 5k gems I got.
EU Elona Reach – Void Sentinels
A very mixed bag for me, this patch.
Megaserver has been very nice and retrait in the field is great. But I totally dislike the trait unlock/cost etc.
I started the game specifically because it was play how you want, not play what we tell you to play, do what you’re told. It’s what made this game so different. The freedom was awesome.
I have played plenty games where I did things I was not interested in because it was part of the game; I accepted it as part of the whole, but I totally burned out on that sort of thing. Now, if I do not have fun doing something, I have no interest at all in doing it.
I fortunately have 7 level 80’s but I will not make my 8th. I am simply opposed to “you must play what we tell you, or use a ton of skill points and gold to get traits”.
Some will be happy with it, but it is total change of direction from how the game started, and big letdown for me.
