Well you ARE visciously attacking anyone who complains about the girly-girl weapons…

I also am shocked at how upset some people are about a bows graphic, I think it looks cool/funny and doesn’t bother me, the effect IS a bit too big though if something had to be changed… so nice to see all these interesting legendary weapons being made by ANet keep up the good work.

Some of you over the top macho dudes really love your video game immersion wow… come on just get your Dusk and stomp those colorful rainbow noobs down in your black bleeding fiery armor and get over it.

not the type of game i was expecting.
and dressing up all black to stomp the rainbow peeps is just as much childish.

thats the problem; its too childish.
i must be getting old and sad

People getting so angry, throwing tantrums over a unicorn and rainbows? Really?

…There’s no point in throwing a tantrum about it because you aren’t forced to get the bow or to pay attention to it.

Just curious about your definition of a “tantrum” because, to quote a famous movie: “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with joke weapons like this, and it seems immensely popular.

However, for every joke weapon, I would prefer if they made serious variants as well. A new legendary Pistol for example MUST be appropriate for Thiefs and Engineers. Likewise, a Shortbow fitting for Thiefs and Rangers.

“Seem” that’s the key word. Most of the comments I have seen have never been singling you out. That is a big assumption – that they are on your server, or a server that will face you in WvW.

Most of the comments are that they liked it anyway and wanted it. Now they just want it more. They already had that opinion – you just internalized it to the ‘nth’ degree.

I actually wanted it as of about a week ago – before I even knew about this thread – so it wasn’t to get your goat.

So, sorry – I don’t think “you” are that critical in the mass picture of the game.

Let me try to be more “neutral”. I believe the majority of people here will at least agree to the fact that the Dreamer’s effect stands out substantially more than the other legendaries?

Would it be OK if we put it in a “stronger visual effect” category and give people a display option to “turn off stronger visual effects”? That way people who like it will have it displayed, and people who don’t like it don’t have to see it?

Come on… now don’t come with trying to force people to see it? :P It’ll end up becoming a real life mental torture weapon.

Let’s say, I hate the color red. Well because aesthetically, I hate this color, then I shouldn’t put it in the game, because I hate it. That is the logic, you are trying to enforce.

A color is not inherently tacky. How someone uses it might be, but not a color in itself.

I am going to play devil’s advocate here.

Scenario:
Big male Norn guardian doing Jormag, in bright pink armor is ruining my immersion. No matter where I go, while doing Jormag, he is so large that all I see on my screen is a bright pink man running around. They shouldn’t be allow to dye heavy armor pink, because it doesn’t go with GW2.

What would be your argument that they should, or shouldn’t?

Individually, you’re right (in fact, calling attention to themselves is the entire point of legendaries in the first place). But bad dye jobs are also much, much more common than the discussed effect is. Average it out and bad dye jobs have far more of a “annoyance weight” than this bow does.

big norn in pink isnt as intrusive as this bow.

anyway.
i think i said my point enough:
nearly all the content that came out since release is very childish;
costumes, candies, toyweapon, mini pets, quaggan backpack, unicorn bow…

i am not a happy customer right now.
i was expecting stuff with a slightly more mature flavor.
the unicorn bow is only the drop to much.

How many times have i seen a pink Norn? Never. How many times will i have to see rainbow unicorns? Whenever the bow is used (which is absurdly common).
The difference is the fact people have an option to change the dye (a LOT of them) but you don’t have an option to get a different legendary short bow.
And yes the bow is a definition of tacky, a graphic designer would know that, person who came up with the idea was going for that.

Actually, I have seen 6+ in overflow that have been fully pink, yellow, green or even a mix-matched of colors , and probably just as many Dreamweavers in all the time I have played, but you may have seen more. I see more twilights, and sunrises than any other legendary.

Devil’s Advocate again: But who are you to say what is more distracting for me? This is a highly distracting thing for me, maybe not for you, but it is for me and ruins immersion for me. How come I can not have an option to turn their dyes into less offensive colors to my eyes?

An artist does not always have the opportunity to “dictate” what gets done. There are times where an artist is a service provider. A client tells the artist what they want, and without the client the artist gets no food, so the artist gives the client what they want regardless of personal taste about tackiness.

Plenty of logo jobs I have done that I presented a client with 3 options, and they took the one I didn’t like, or liked the least because it was their favorite. I didn’t have the luxury to say – no, I won’t sell that to you because it’s tacky. I needed food on the table, so I took their money, and bought my groceries.

When I paint my paintings for me, I get to choose everything into it. I make something that pleases me in the hopes that it sells, but it isn’t my mainstay for income. So I get the luxury of deciding whether I want a big pink heavy armor knight jumping about with a bow with unicorns and rainbows or if I want flaming balls of gas shooting from the air. It’s my choice, and someone gets to decide later if it fits their taste and if they want it. If they don’t want it, they don’t buy it, but I still got my choice just like they did.

When it’s your job, the artist doesn’t have the luxury of personal taste. Personal tastes and preferences are just that.

People who are not artists or in an artistic related field don’t understand that they are not flitty, fly by the seat of your pants, crazy, insane, do whatever they like people. We have to do the jobs we don’t like just like everyone else.

I hate coconut. Can’t stand the smell, sight, taste, or thought of it. I don’t degrade my sister because she loves it and can’t get enough of it. I just “ignore it”. I don’t eat it.

Same applies here.

To Nikkistar:

You’re trying to take only the words what are the best for your argumentation. Never mind, I will answer that question. Every legendary should have story about them and it should be attached to any part of the history or present time. The term legendary is explaining everything. However it’s not present here but it does not taking the responsibility from them. It should not be only the weapon TIER. I don’t know what future will show but Anet stated that Legendary is the “king”. I would expect to have some background for them. Let’s imagine Sauron’s mace breaking the Narsil. If you know LOTR, you immediately feel that it has a history. Legendary should have great background and of course power (either positive or negative).

I would be more calm if they would provide solid background for such weapon but now it’s only legendary tier providing ridiculous effects (some weapons, not all) in world where good fights against evil narrated as solid and ADULT conflict. I’m repeating myself now…and if you read my posts carefully you hopefully get whole picture about why I think it does not fit to the game.

Personally, I find this bow to be really funny. Not because it’s a rainbow shooting unicorn, just because how people hate being killed by it. There’s nothing more insulting than being killed by rainbow.

That being said, I would really like options for the legendaries. Right now, My staff ele is using the one from arah because i don’t think the legendary fits the style I’ve been giving him. Same thing with my warrior. I didn’t wan’t twilight nor Sunrise because I wanted a warrior that looked like something realistic, so I wen’t for AC, which is one of the rare GS that doesn’t look like a huge kitten too heavy to wield GS. The GS has 3 options(sunrise, twilight, eternity). Even if they do look alike, I think that the other weapons would like variety too.

TL:DR Two options for each weapon choice would be awesome

I already stated this, but I will agree, that tattoo of the anet logo is a little over the top.

I don’t think I fail to understand the argument.

Sigh, let me straighten this out, since you decided that my initial posts were directed at you. Might I add, they weren’t. Sorry, but I didn’t even read any of your initial responses.

My first comment was directed to the people that WERE whining and QQing. People saying “I want to quit the game cause of this”, “I won’t play with someone who has this”, “it ruins my immersion and I hate this game now”, “i will kick a person with it”. If you don’t like it, by all means, don’t like it. But to make extreme comments such as those, is just pure idiom in my book and is QQing and whining. What would you call it?

To Nikkistar:

I give you a 100% respect on this response. I can respect your wishes on LORE. If you found my initial response offensive, I do apologize for that. However, I was indicating only that GW2 has lacked any actual LORE when it comes to the legendaries themselves. For me, LORE is not as important, but I, myself, would not have cared either way. It was just indicating a sheer lack of LORE, that I wanted to point out.

all these little childish things are ok.

but a weapon ? it isnt as constrained or temporary as events or holiday content.
you can actually attack Jormag with rainbow unicorns while sporting a quaggan backpack.
if anet wanted to go for a japanese rpg type of feel, akin to final fantasy, with girly stuff and childish things, then i feel they kind of lacked imagination with that bow.
the quaggan backpack is “ok” if japanese rpg is the look.
but a bow like that is unexcusable.

if anet wanted to go for a japanese rpg type of feel, akin to final fantasy, with girly stuff and childish things, then i feel they kind of lacked imagination with that bow.
the quaggan backpack is “ok” if japanese rpg is the look.
but a bow like that is unexcusable.

Does this make you mad?

Yes, I sure am sporting a quaggan, with an legendary, with T3.

I don’t get why this is such a huge deal.

Would be good if you could switch skins when you remake new legendary items. Or at least be able to revert back to the original rainbow because the unicorn is just awful quality, I’m shocked this is actually a legendary.

Throwing snowballs at kids and knocking them over, or becoming a plant dog to play with puppies is what I think about when I think of adult conflict.

As an adult, I have played in the snow with my nephews. Since this is a magical world, I can’t imagine a better way to communicate with dogs that need help than to become one so you can speak their language. I bet vets would love that.

Neither of these events are childish or inappropriate for an adult world.
