I think the game has a long road ahead of it; eSport, class balance, WvWvW, and end-game to name a few. That said, I do just want to throw out there that, since launch, this has been the most stable, smooth, and pain-free experience I’ve ever had in an MMO going as far back as Ultima Online.

Besides the first 24hours, the servers have been up, consistently available, and bereft of latency entirely. Definitely throw some extra cash to your networking team come Christmas.

Just thought I’d throw a positive out there in between ‘Nerf thieves omg!’ and ‘You better do X or I’m gonna Y!’ etc.

Cheers-

I’ve got to agree with this specially concerning the latency. My internet connection is kitten and I can barely say I’m playing an online game save for the very rare lag spike.

I still would like to be able to check the latency tho which to this day I haven’t found in game.

I like this game

The world feels vibrant and alive whenever I log in, be it the speech, NPCs, other players, events, there is always something happening

I am very critical by nature, but I do appreciate the game despite writing many posts concerning issues.

If a positive post is written so mildly as this one, being positive without being blind, than I can’t do anything but applaud it.

True, I have many issues with the game still, but yes: it is a great game nonetheless.

Agreed. Latency has been really clean, and I’m impressed we haven’t had any major server downtime or maintenance days.

The game has flaws, but I want it to have flaws, provided we talk about them constructively, find ways to adapt and improve on those flaws. But, all things considered, this has been a remarkably smooth, polished launch.

I’ve been playing non-stop since launch, and the only real problem I have is the bugged events and skill points. Working on my 2nd character after getting my engineer to 80 (loving the double dagger necro)

I love this game. Played so many hours already and plan on playing a lot more. It’s got tons of room for improvement and is already the most improved game of it’s genre in my opinion from it’s competitors.

I do have some suggestions, but most of them aren’t what ArenaNet is doing wrong, but what they can add to improve the game. The only thing they’re doing wrong is giving 3 day forum bans if you “Don’t post in a respectful tone” (yet you can’t tell someones tone from text. You have no idea what my emotion is while writing this). That could change, but as far as the game is, I’ve never rage quitted and was like “ARENANET CHANGE THIS NOW!”

Looking back at the history of GW1 would prepare people for the pleasant surprise of the lack of server downtime

Guild Wars 2 should expect to have the same amount of down time that Guild Wars 1 has had (which is about 32 hours total give or take a few). We don’t need to take our servers down to patch.

That’s 32 hours over seven years.

It’s good to see ArenaNet is continuing that with GW2.

Unfortunately, there are many, many users out there who would disagree with you Revelstoke.

In my opinion this was the worst experience I’ve ever seen during launch, definitely not the most stable, and if you’ve looked around, you would have noticed tens-of-thousands of accounts were banned, due to bad behavior, naming problems, and tons such as myself who had been hacked within the pre-launch, had to go through poor service with automated responses for about 2 weeks after having their accounts blocked for 72 hours, then banned permanently without even so much as touching them game themselves.

Problems like this have also been shown all over Twitch.tv, such as players getting banned for buying a Karma item worth 28 Karma, when it was supposed to be 28K Karma, and then being told “You have to spend ALL Your gold, and ALL your Karma, or we will ban your account permanently”. As if they expected everyone checks their forums on a daily basis. In my opinion, launch, up until players actually started leaving, Guild Wars 2 has not been smooth, and stable, and unnecessary changes are being continued driving more players away, then actually keeping. Of course, this is but my opinion.

I can admit Guild Wars 2 has been showing some improvement, and that none of the changes are really effecting how I find Guild Wars 2. And just to throw a different curve to your praising Guild Wars 2, as said, many others would disagree highly that Guild Wars 2 was definitely not the smoothest they’ve played. I suppose I’ll include myself after spending 2 weeks at the beginning trying to reclaim my account.
