A dye whiter than celestial
Despite the code, Icing never looks greyish to me when I step “out of the light.”

It’s not about the dye, it’s about the different armors having some sort of base color that’s not changed.
Sylvari culture armor is really “white” and even in dark areas it’s shown as white.
Sadly it looks like grey on nearly all of the rest of the armors.
They just need to fix that and the color itself would be fine.

I’ve noticed that. My Mesmer is wearing a mix of 2 different light armor sets. One set takes Celestial well and is always white (Nightmare Court armor) . The other pieces from the other set (Zodiac armor) turn gray when in shaded areas.
ANet may give it to you.
Adjust gamma in graphics or monitor settings. Maybe buy a brighter monitor?
Well. That’s propably cause if you step out of direct light, there is gonna be some shadow, so it gets darker. I think its a pretty normal white.
Might also have to do something with the armor itself , some dyes look (and oh I cringe every time I see it) different of different pieces
Or do ya guys wanna glow? Then I suggest sylvari :P
I too would like to see a better “pure white” dye that goes along better with the celestial hair color. The hair stays nice and white in different lighting situations. The end result though is that the hair makes the outfit look grey.
Glint’s Sanctuary works very well on my bright-white sylvari.
Should I assume you’ve tried the dye called “White” and it really isn’t?

Correct. Celestial is ‘whiter’ than “White.”

Yes that is true but this is the problem. Armor dyed Shadow Abyss does not look gray in light areas, it stays black. Whereas celestial changes color because it’s not actually white, it’s just the sunshine that gives it that white glow when you stand in sunlight.

as 0,0,0 doesn’t reflect anything, no differences in color
well 255,255,255 does reflect all.
I doubt your or my eyes for that matter would enjoy a 255,255,255 dye… It would make your whole character whiter then the radiant armor pieces white…
also having a white light source helps.. chaos torch?
You would be a walking lightsource… Sewems nice but not usable unless you dimm your screen, and lose the background.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

That’s not true, just as a completely black dye doesn’t make your character look like a void of darkness in sunlight (unless you have lowest graphics setting). You would still be able to see the armor textures and details. It would just be one step whiter.
With the recent texture downgrade with the latest patch, such dye would be even more prominent >.>
I doubt overexposure of white stains in addition to the bloom shader will look as good though. I gave up white hair on my asura and white fur for my charr, because I couldn’t take it.
there are armorpieces where even shadow abyss is just dark grey and not really black
but yes an even more white dye to balance between different armorpieces when white is not always white on each armorpiece would be nice
