A grueling decision.
I’m really curious as to why you don’t like the engineer.
Engineers are quite fun. What do you prefer to play? Ranged or melee? Thieves can use two pistols and wear medium so maybe that would work for you?
Do first quest on all of them, press H, go to spvp and test all skills on golems. Find what you like.

I just feel bored, disappointed, unenthused, and just plain out crappy. I should be having fun leveling! I love engineer PvP and thats what kinda made me decide for engi in the pve aspect but geez, I didn’t think it would be like this. The damage is, lackluster to say the least, most of our utility skills are broken (ie; don’t do good damage, aren’t consistent, etc.) I really wanted Engi to work but I just can’t do it. It’s too stale.
Warrior.
Equip two axes and a greatsword, and literally faceroll everything that stands in your way. For a more detailed analysis, look up Dontain on YouTube.
Its just not for some people dude. My fiance started with the engineer, leveled it to 30 and absolutely hates it now. She said she would delete it, if it wasn’t her highest level character and have so many pretty things already. So she rolled a Guardian and is loving every minute of it.
On the flip side a guild friend of mine had a Guardian he leveled to 17 and wasn’t liking it at all. Was constantly asking advice on how he should trait, what skills he should unlock, what weapons to use, because he just wasn’t having fun with it and assumed maybe he was just playing it wrong. So he rolled an Engineer and is having a total blast (no pun) and won’t shut up about it.
Just try them all. Eventually you’ll find a class that clicks and it might be the one you thought youd never care for.

Fair enough. Perhaps try a Greatsword/dual axe warrior for high burst. Or maybe Greatsword/Longbow which I find better for dungeons/events and also situations that require some kiting. Thief is also pretty good as a bursty melee if you go with a pistol whipping sword/pistol, pistol/pistol build. The dual pistols are great for adding some range.

Thanks for all the feedback. Seeing as how my friend plays a warrior that I play with very often, I might stray away from it. I know it doesn’t matter but it’s just the whole i don’t want to be the same thing as you type deal lol
The best thing about warriors isn’t that they faceroll stuff (though they do, let’s be honest), it’s that there’s SO MUCH VARIETY in the way they can be played.
I did the GS for the first 30 levels, got bored and now I’m swapping between dual axe and axe/shield. They’re both fun and a lot different than the GS was. Next I’ll probably go hit things with a hammer for a while.
I felt exactly the same with the warrior, got to lvl 41 and ended up rerolling a guardian and haven’t looked back since, finding it far more fun than warrior and I actually feel useful when grouped aswell knowing I can support and heal even when not really trying to play that way.

That is really good advice!!
I just did that with my Mesmer, and wow! what neat spells and abilities, I cant wait to level this proff up.
And I did the same for my Guardian and bleah! half of his spells are heals, buffs or cures removing things, not at all what I was thinking. I didnt want to roll a support buff class. That saved me wasting time leveling that up, Im going to try a Warrior instead.
Now to go try all of the proffs!
I played a Norn Guardian to level 41, then decided to try something different.
I went w/ a Human Ranger, now at level 13.
I’m not usually big on alts, but I wanted to try something else after epicly failing AC.
So far, I’m likeing the Ranger a bit better. The comfort/safty of the Range® is more to my likeing.
Well i’ve decided to stick it out and stick with engi. I’m sure they’ll fix some stuff and mainly I just don’t want to grind back up to level 52 on another character. lol laziness has won this battle.
