I’ve come back from a long hiatus from your biggest competitor that put out stellar expansion. They stole a lot of ideas from you, improved them as well. There happens to be a ton of content that requires a very large investment of time in one character, There’s so much to do that it’s quite frankly impossible to keep up in any reasonable fashion unless you neglect your family, your wife, your career; and Six Gods forbid you try to play it with moderation you will never feel like you’ve made any progress.

Coming back to Guild Wars 2 I’ve found there’s still plenty of end game Open World content that’s frankly more engaging, the Fractals are less stressful than Mythic 5 Mans and require less of a time commitment. I’ve yet to get into Raiding yet however I did get an invite recently from a Guild that raids every day, provides training, and I’m sure has multiple groups to accommodate that kind of schedule. Frankly if I really want a long term goal like this time sink Artifacts turned into I can craft a Legendary.

I’ve just come to the conclusion that I’m no longer young enough, committed enough, free enough to play a game like World of Warcraft.

Guild Wars 2 however seems to be the game you play after you realize that you’re a grown up, and the community reflects that with their level of decency and maturity.

Well said. I’ll second that. GW1 and GW2 have kept my attention since GW1 was first released and the first beta day GW2 was available. I like how a person can play at their own pace and choose the content they want to pursue. It’s a game I can enjoy solo, playing with family, or with pick up groups.

Thank’s for the reply, glad I’m not the only forum dweller that’s happy.

You’re not alone indeed, for me, GW2 offers the perfect compromise when you aren’t motivated any longer in super focused and intense grind, but still like to play and learn to adapt to a ton of content that you can play at your pace, without the feeling of being left behind.

I pretty happy myself, over all. Still playing every day. Less since I hurt my shoulder, but hopefully I’ll be playing more soon as it heals.

I quit WoW nearly two years ago, and after finding GW2, have never felt the urge to go back to any game that is simply a gear-grind-treadmill.

Well thats the thing – you can come back to GW2 after years without being much behind in anything other than shiny new looks. Yes perhaps some new gear stats but regular still work.

In most other MMO you leave for a few months and you are hopelessly behind. Thats why I havent been able to commit to anything. ESO, Archeage, BDO, 2 months in each was about how much I could handle of the threadmill. Archeage in particular just became sad to play. Even if I worked for 3 months to get gear I would still have been 3 months behind everyone else in the guild. So I gave it up and went back to GW2. I could spend 1 week in any of those games and still have less fun and less action than 2 hours of GW2.

Seconded. This line should be framed and displayed in Mo’s office.

I dip in and out. Still so much to do as I’m pretty casual. I spent many years with GW1 and have had GW2 since release.
