Dear Anet.

I think U got a great game, I’ve been playing for more then 2,5 years. But since HOT and the latest Current Event (LCE) I think U’re moving in the wrong direction with the game and I’m concerned about it, that’s why I’m posting my very first post.

First of all, U’re making the best content for a small amount of the playerbase, while a large amount of them that’s supporting the game, won’t exp it. Yes, I’m talking about raids. Don’t get me wrong raiders, raids must stay as the way it is, inaccessible for a casual like me, cos I’m a special snowflake with respect for raiders. I don’t want to be that weight hanging arround 9 other peoples neck, being carried or that the raid content is dumbed down. If I want action or a challenge, I’d be playing something else like for example FPS-games. But I want to play GW2, cos it was advertised: play how U want. I play to relax, while some would play for the challenge. The recent rant of WP about (in)acessebility and raids, is dividing Ur playerbase into toxic factions. IMHO this is moving in a wrong direction.

So what to do as a casual player, who isn’t into raids, fractals. pvp and wvw? Btw dungeons are dead. I do enjoy Teq, SW, DS, Chak Gerent and WB’s etc, but I’m getting bored doing the same stuff. I do like the LWS and the new maps, but it’s just a one weekend content play, and when U’re finished, there’s not much more left to do and I didn’t rush it. I’m already asc on multiple char. Another thing about LWS is, challenging content doesn’t mean, spamming aoe circles all over the place, with no places to dodge in a way to small room, while U only have two dodges at Ur disposal. I completed it, but it was no fun, carrying multiple armor sets and lots of repair cans. Just like LWSs2 No point of Return endboss. Another thing albout LWS s2 is, I can’t compl the achieve, to obtain Tyria MP, cos some achieve are gated behind group play.

So why can’t I play GW2 like I did 2,5 years ago? cos content is gated behind unreasonable, broken/buggy group mechanics.

Raids is gated by the amount of LI’s and what not…
Unreasonable but fine by me read 2nd alinea again.

Heart of Minds Endbosses is gated, the instance and all of the bosses mechanics are stretched out and bugged (from fighting Canach to Marjory to the endboss). It’s too long, no reasonable savepoints. If U die U need to do it again or if U die U’d reset with broken armor while the endboss reset with full life, but the endboss mechanics won’t reset to the 1st phase. If one mechanic doesn’t fail, another will fail. Like the rifts will open on a reachable location, but the updrafts won’t appear, so U can’t glide up, or the rifts and updrafts appear properly but U can’t kill the endboss, cos I can’t press f to kill him, it won’t appear. IMO those are broken/buggy mechanics. Many people have complaint about it. I don’t understand why Anet won’t look into it and make a proper fix to it. U need a group to finish it, unless U’re the greatest player in the world, something I’m not. It is such a tour, to do it again. So what’s personal about a PS if U need a group to succeed it? I never finished HOT nor did I finish Zhaitan in the beginning when it was a dungeon.

With the LCE gated behind HOT compl I dislike the direction Anet is going. while it’s my prefered gamemode, I can’t compl the LCE, cos of broken/ buggy, must play in group endboss mechanic, read above. Note: this game might be a MMORPG, but it’s based on a RPG, and that’s solo-play. U can stick MMO on to it, but it is still solo-play. And I’m only talking about story modes. That I couldn’t compl Zhaitan back in the day, was no problem for me, cos nothing was gated behind that. but the LCE gated behind HOT compl is unreasonable and not fine by me.

I won’t buy the next expack cos I expect another bugged endboss fight in the PS gated behind group play and broken mechanics, just like Zhaitan in the beginning and Mordremoth, after that U can’t complete new content cos it is gated behind that again. Like the LCE is gated behind HOT compl. It’s a waste of money. I won’t enjoy or support the game cos of this. Anet need to change her philosify about story modes, to change my opinion about this. Just make the story modes solo friendly, no need to dumb it down. I must say the endboss of LWSs3e2, the endbossfight in the Egg Chamber, was well executed.

TLDR: U can say I’m burned out, need to git gud, take a break or whatever. I say Anet need to fix her bugs asap, Anet need to get in touch with her playerbase, not everyone is on GW2 forums or Reddit, not everyone is a raider, pvp er, wvw er or a casual player etc. Anet is alienating herself from the playerbase, deviding the playerbase into toxic factions, who are blaiming each other for not having new content and thus Anet is destroying the game self handedly, for it was once such a beautiful and one of the best games I ever played. Players are leaving. This is something I’m very concerned of.

First off, Nothing in the entire game is gated in this post. Not Hot’s story, not living world, not raids, not pvp, not wvw, the only thing you briefly mentioned that actually is gated behind gear and AR is fractals, yet you didn’t complain about them, why?

Second, I and most others I know who are very casual have soloed their entire way through HOT, including the final end instance as well as new living story content in full berserker gear. If you are having difficulty like this it’s probably you. The only group I’ve ever needed in HOT was for the modern loop achievement.

Third, you label all raiders as toxic , failing to see the irony in it, then go on to complain about how challenging content isn’t for you. Great, but I and many others find the game too easy so raids were a challenge meant for us, now that it’s on farm, we want more . Not everyone is into pushing themselves and that’s okay, but stop calling people who enjoy it toxic when you’ve never raided

I dunno man, I mean there are tons of things to do at endgame, but you don’t seem to enjoy any of them. I know I don’t enjoy pvp and I’m missing something because of that, but I have still other things to do.
but as you said “So what to do as a casual player, who isn’t into raids, fractals. pvp and wvw” that are 4 whole game modes you’re dismissing. most games don’t even have so many to choose from. If you don’t like any kind of group activity, the only thing I can think is world bosses, regular map events and jumping puzzles.
If you’ve been playing for 2 years and a half and nothing interests you anymore, I think you should better take a small break. I did it and it helped me want to play again. go and play other games meanwhile and you’ll enjoy yourself again when you get back.

Also I’m pretty casual myself, I only have 1 char that I played, but I still do low level fractals, they’re fun, and pretty casual.

So what to do as a casual player, who isn’t into raids, fractals. pvp and wvw?

So what do if you’re not into 80% of the content in the game?

I dunno, play another game I suppose.

Anet make Rev great again.

If you’re a causal player and you choose not to achievement hunt, and you choose not to complete collections, and you’re not farming for skins, the problem really isn’t Anet’s. The problem is you expect, as a casual player, to be entertained.

The only way a casual player can really be entertained by an MMO is to pick goals and go for them. Because no one can really make enough content to satisfy, even if they didn’t make raids.

I’m not a raider. I don’t PvP. I do run fractals (which are a hell of a lot better than dungeons in my opinion anyway).

Also dungeons aren’t dead. If you put your own LFG in the dungeon LFG it’ll fill. I know because I’ve done it.

OP, you can play Guild Wars 2 like you did 2.5 years ago. Just stay in the maps that were available at that time.

Good luck.

I say the same thing to previous people who complain about similar things…

You can find training runs…and guilds that are willing to help you. It’s not all elitist world out there. THe problem is people are too lazy to put an effort into things…

Please nerf bag types instead of class skills!

Ehm yes. Your post is entirely pointless.

He said

The recent rant of WP about (in)acessebility and raids, is dividing Ur playerbase into toxic factions. IMHO this is moving in a wrong direction.

He’s clearly saying there are toxic factions, including the more negative anti raid crowd. In the context given he clearly isn’t going after the raider population at large.

That makes your statement disingenuous at best.

And who is he to decide who is toxic and who isn’t? You must realize this is a statement most commonly used by casual players to describe raiding because they refuse to put time into the game. That makes your statement intellectually dishonest at best. You can stop nitpicking now

I decide who is toxic and who isn’t and then choose to either ignore, report or retaliate. I do what I can and let Anet handle the rest. Each and every one of us, yourself included, is free to do the same. This may be an MMO but none of us is under any obligation to bear through anything someone else throws at us. OP mentioned factions; if you choose to label that on raiding community then thats on you.

OP: game is evolving. It would certainly be nice to predict the future based on past but people that worked on it before don’t do so now. Things change over time, people change, agendas change. You can let your voice be heard (as you did) but beyond that you can either keep trying, adapt yourself or leave. Maybe take a short break or change up your ingame habits; there are still likely many aspects of it that you may find appealing still. And you never know: it may eventually change again in your favor (it = your opinion or the game but its all the same if you are having fun).

Be who you are and say what you feel,
because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind

I’m under the impression that HoT was trying to be rushed out, and it had too many things going for it which was ridden with bugs and improperly evaluated content. Raids came after HoT launch, PvP balancing is still being done, and not all the legendaries are out yet.

I feel like the next xpac will take a very long time to make, and it will be announced once everything is near completion. I doubt Anet would underestimate the scope of something like that again.

There’s achievement hunting btw, which consists of nearly every part of GW2 (scratch that, it DOES include every aspect of GW2).

In many guilds there is zero reason to log in to play with your friends / guild members because with the LS3 they give us nothing that requires actual organized groups. Other than a couple of Achievements that require some extra prep work, the rest of the new content is for solo players. And yet people are saying that content is “gated” behind group content! Where is all the group content hiding?

What’s there for organized groups to do?

Funny how the comment is made that players are leaving, when I have personally seen the most of my friends online since launch day.

The buggy Karka event caused 90% of the people I know to leave, and the sad reality is that they fell so far behind that they had no incentive to come back.

With the launch of HoT, and the fundamental changes to the game, it was like a big reset button. All of a sudden, everyone had to build characters again, explore new worlds, learn to play the game again.

A ton of players returned, and are still actively playing. I dont have the bigger scale numners, but HoT seems very very well received.

As for raids, its such a tiny blip in the content, I cannot see any reason other than elitism that you would complain about it. The only reason you have to care about raids, is legendary armor, and to put that in context, you want to be rewarded as the best, without doing the work to earn it. That hardly seems fair!
