Let us take a secondary profession, ala’ gw1. It wouldn’t be power creep and potentially a lot of fun.

In fairness, he isn’t wrong to say that it wouldn’t be power creep. But that’s only because it would be a full on power lunge.

there was power creep in gw1 too fro it tho when certain skills from other classes made you deal stupid dmg or never die i cant see how it would not be here but yes you are correct

If ANet puts in duel professions then I’ll take thief/chronomancer as my new main as backstab enhanced with alacrity alternating with periods of stealth would be most useful and only a teensy weensy bit overpowered.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

We technically already have dual classing as is with the possibility of taking the old classline as well as the elite line and that’s the core problem of many of the powercreep issues right now.

Yeah, sure as hell wouldn’t be overpowered if you could do that even further.

Chrono druid would be an awesome tank. Gear up in minstrels, be able to full heal people with ease while still providing perm quickness and high alacrity uptime, on top of GotL. Yup, can’t see a problem with this idea

If this ever happened they wouldn’t let you take the second professions elite spec.

I’d they did this they would have to work a long time getting weapon skills to have both first and second profession in it it would be too much work with too much to go wrong, imagine and thief with 3 illusions thief’s? If you don’t get the real one soon it would destroy you.

That is just one example.

Even so…

Mesmer/Thief
Moa target, hit backstab a couple times, dodge to get a clone or two to confuse where you are momentarily, stealth, send a phantasm out, backstab again, shatter clones, use portal to land far away, unload with pistols.

Sounds like fun, no?

It’s moot, as it will never happen. ANet already said that they designed GW2 to avoid some mistakes they felt they had made in GW1, including that having a secondary prof made balancing classes too hard. Emphasizing that point: they already limit balancing updates to 3-4x/year, without much tweaking in between.

Nonsensical idea, that will never happen, unless Anet seriously wants to take the biscuit and totally destroy the game with this change royally beyond repairability.

This garbage class design was the very reason, why GW1s class balance was absurdly out of control from begin on and never ever got from day one on at all the chance to reach a state of being close to balanced, because every single change on skills meant always gazillions of abkittenely unpredictable overpowered skill combinations, especially due to GW1 having tons of more skills per Class, than GW2 has and due to each class being combinatable with all other classes that had to be checked, tested and balanced.

Way too much work for Anet to handle it, especially from the point on when Anet added more classes with the standalones Factions and Nightfall, they exponentially increased with every added class extremely their own workload of balancing the game due to this dual class garbage, just to have a class design system in the game, that was unique up to that point and not used much in other MMORPGS.

3x you may guess, why exactly other developers stayed away from it and rather used the classical traditional 1 class design, like Anet did now for GW2 too!!
Way simpler class balancing, due to not having permanently countless of unpredictable chain reactions from hundreds of skills

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside
