A new players view of the game.
Hello Joote!
I have wrote a forum Post for new players to help them get indepth in Combat System of the game.
I would recomend you check it out:

Also, I’m a huge fan of Angry Joe myself. His very fun and entertaining when he reviews good and bad games. Movies too lately lol.
Enjoy that feeling while it lasts… :/
It may seem casual when you first start playing the game, but at L80, it becomes a massive grind to accomplish anything. Also, I too grouped with lots of people in the earlier zones, it was incredibly fun. As you level up, the zones become empty. The last zones are a pain in the kitten because of this. Some events in these areas are bugged and hardly ever work. I don’t ever wanna go back to Malchor’s Leap and I can’t wait to get out of Cursed shore. I’d level my alts but just thinking of hitting the high levels is too discouraging.
As someone who has leveled 3 characters to 80, and a 4th at 58, I can say the game is what you make of it all around, at any level.
I wont touch on the 1-80 experience, I think many will agree it is fantastic. One or two people here have touched on high level zones becoming more empty, I never experienced this. Always people running around…always. At least on my server.
-There is a grind at 80 for any type of gear that you want, be it dungeon sets, legendaries, ascended gear.
-You are able to craft exotics with minimal girnd
-I think the dungeons in this game are the best ive seen, especially FoTM.
-Honestly, unless youre a pro, competitive WvW player, stats really don’t matter. I ran into explorables not caring about my gear(being a mixed bag of greens, and a few rares..hardly any upgrade slots filled). Needless to say, I had no problems. I started fractals with a full exotic set, probably not optimally statted, still no problems.
It is what you make of it. My problem is pyschological in that I feel some innate need to try to keep up with everyone in fractal levels, but the recent AMA assauged this.
Enjoy the game.
Oh, and take in the amazing visuals…
Thanks guys.
Maybe the higher levels will improve by the time I get to them.
One other thing I have found I love about GW2 is that you can actually run away from the monsters. No more getting out run by them, or getting hit by them from the other side of the map.
Great that you are enjoying the game. Many elements of game design contribute to solving player playing with other players problems. Those ideas are brilliant. There has been the introduction of countervailing forces with the last patch which you will notice over time, but enjoy the game now for all the things they did right. I have 3 level 80 characters and am now leveling another. And, I’m experiencing all those good things you mention again. If the open world starts getting empty try a server transfer to a higher pop server as they are free. I had to do that after the patch to address the dead world problem but my new server now feels like the old one used to.
Well you definitely joined at the right time I imagine the wintersday thing is going to be amazing.
Thanks guys.

I wouldn’t worry about the doomsayers.
The high levels carry the same feeling as the low level zones. The point of contention is the ascended and legendary tiers of gear, which basically exist for the super-hardcore crowd, having a few % more stats.
But, as you said yourself you’re quite casual so hopefully you won’t fall into the same trap of thinking you absolutely must have these items when you get to 80; I consider myself pretty hardcore and even I think they’re not worth wasting your time chasing (And I’m a lot happier for it it would seem xD)

Welcome to GW2! The game really is a lot of fun, and if Wintersday celebrations are anything like as well done as Halloween, prepare to have a blast.
One note – finding a decent guild helps a lot with empty zones. Every guild’s a bit different, and fit different people, but there are plenty of guilds that are friendly for new players. Also, lower-level zones still give XP and loot, just not as much.
It really is different to all other MMO,s and a casual players dream. Do what you want, when you want, and I don’t think I have ever been grouped with other players so much in any other MMO.
Anet has done a brilliant job of spreading rewards through all aspects of the game — exotic gear can be obtained through virtually any playstyle. They’ve also set up mechanics that encourage cooperation — you don’t compete for resource nodes, monster drops or exp from kills. They’ve advanced the genre in good ways.
There are problems, and some areas where they appear to have varied from their core principles (FoTM and Ascended gear). They’re saying all the right things about fixing these issues, however. So far, they’ve earned the benefit of the doubt.

I had given up on MMO’s forever, and then I happen to observe my Son playing Guild Wars 2. After watching him play for a hour he gave me the chair. Two hours later I bought the game for myself.

I think I will side with Angry Joe here and give Guild Wars 2, a score of 10 out of 10 .
Yea, I’m really happy with the game. I think the MMO industry is starting to realize that some of us adults with limited play time want to give them our money, but only if they don’t require us to spend forever grinding out crap just to stay competitive and able to group with our friends that have a lot of free time.
It’s not perfect to this extent as I’m still having to do a good bit of grinding and farming at level 80 to get the gear I want, but it’s much better than anything else out there.
And yes, the group mechanics are awesome.
I get a toon to 80…then just leave it there and start working on another alt. One of these days, I suppose I’ll get around to totally maxing out a class. Maybe.
I’m preferring the journey to 80 on each class available rather than finding something to do at 80. Plus multiple alts keeps my mats sollection flush .

No, I’m not a hard core player, so hopefully I won’t experience any disappointment later on. I am only level 10, but seem to have got there really fast. I would put that down to the enjoyment I am getting out of the game.
So far I think this is the best MMO I have ever played, and unlike other MMO’s where you get the feeling that you are playing a single player game, GW2 feels truly multiplayer in quite a astonishing way.
As long as you are mature enough to know the difference between “want” and “need”, you wont have any problems even at lvl80.
The grindy things offer minimal or zero impact. Rather than wanting some rare thing right away and feeling like you need to grind for it, the way the game is meant to be played is that you keep doing whatever you enjoy, and eventually you might get a nice bonus from it.
And if you get bored sometime, just leave and see if you want to come back later. There’s no need to have your life consumed by a video game.
I would recommend that you spend some effort in trying different guilds and finding one that suits you, though. Having a ready supply of people to play with when you feel like it, vastly improves anyone’s enjoyment of an MMO, even if they solo or pair with friends/family 90% of the time.
