My heart sinks watching my all-time favorite game turn into this… watching Anet being bullied and forced into humiliation from a financial threat… I’m pretty sure that’s what’s happening, because I REFUSE to believe that the developers who made the original system went an extra mile and into a black hole… I just refuse.
Im guessing this patch is Guild Wars 2 equivalent of the NGE huh?

I’m wondering how many anet employees gave the new leveling and trait system a full run through, you know actually spent time leveling a character to 80 and seeing how much more “fun” it was over the old system.
Glad I already leveled the characters I wanted to play at 80.

You can’t see them on any race (except maybe Asura and very short female humans/sylvari, maybe).
I did notice though that newer players are still exposed to the complex waypoint system. Should we not protect them from this asura piece of technology?

When I saw that after dancing for cows for some reason, I just stopped everything. That was it. The skill gating and all this coddling as if the average player is some toddler just completely shut me down.
No but seriously, the game is set out as PEGI 12. I try to remember back to the time when I was 12 since ANet is probably doing guidelines based on a 12 years old brain capacity. I wasn’t that dumb. Or maybe I was? No. Impossible…
Jesus Christ. I haven’t checked this NPE myself, because, frankly, i couldn’t care less, however after watching this video… Time for Anet to change their name. Something like Mad House maybe.
I’d say less than a 12 yr. old. I’m using my keyfarmer slot to teach my 3 yr.old grandson to rock GW2. If grandma can help him move his toon, I’ll bet he can do the rest!
Mike’s video’s have always been pretty insightful even with his banter and sarcasm. Honestly ever since he dropped off doing jumping videos with Wooden Potatoes, he has been my like mind in what I think of the game now. I still can’t believe he’s lasted this long going through all of this junk Arena Net has spit out for the last two years. I guess playing Dark Souls has allowed him to do this well enough.
My take on the leveling system (along with the trait unlock system) is I will not make another character. Unless we get another class or race. Which is great reasoning because even though Arena Net say they will, we all know they won’t for the foreseeable future. I love how they took something that was so critically acclaimed for it’s leveling system then flipped it on it’s side. All because players were completing stuff way too fast. I guess this was a system truly 2 years in the making. Especially if you go all the way back to ascended items being introduced to the game. Where even ascended crafting would supposedly have you explore more of those dead zones for their crafting materials.
The more I see these refurbished system go into place, the more I fear what is coming for future reward systems. Where they completely change Legendary crafting where you have to buy gem store items to complete them. Just because they want you to use every part of the game. Also thank goodness the backlash for the ViP system they did for China was the one thing that was left out of this copy and paste trash.

It makes me wonder if there are some deep internal problems at the company when they decide that its vital to completely replace a pretty decently working core system with this hot mess. Did someone else seize power and as their little vanity trip decide they need to make the game by their own focus grouped opinions?

Well, that’s not incorrect. New challenges do await you in the Fields of Ruin.
Have you tried going there? Doing an interpretive dance off against the champion separatist that spawns in the city is bound to be very…… educational.
