Where would they start their journey (lvl 1-15)? I’ve looked at the Tyria map and I can barely find a proper place for them.

Their main town, according to the wiki is Dominion of Winds, which is known that is east from the Sylvari starting area, because the Tengu guards tell you that when you come to their gates.
So if it was by the bridge, by the gates to the Dominion of Wind (west from DoW), it would take you straight to lvl 10-12 enemies, which would, of course, kill you instantly.
To the north DoW collides with a high level map, so it’s not there.
South of DoW is the karka island, which obviously doesn’t suite for lvl 1 players.
East of DoW however could be modified and made as a Tengu starting area, but since it’s just two small islands + the Claw Island, I don’t think it’s going to be there.

If you look to the northeast however, there is a very small area that is ‘pure land’. That area might be recognizable since it’s bordered with LA (the big wall there.)

So, any of you have any ideas?

I made a picture as a visual presentation of what I was talking about 2 paragraphs above.
If you can’t read what’s written inside the northwest red border, it’s:
Probably another Tengu area, since it’s bordered with LA (The big wall)

The DoW could be two areas, a city and a starter zone. Then they would move into shared areas.

Also keep in mind that the tengu are birds. Even if they can’t fly they are used to be on different levels.

Something I could imagine.

The Dominion of winds is a tower stucture. The top levels are town, but the lower levels are under attack (destroyers??).

Remember that the map is not only horizontal, but also vertical.

They could very much add a whole underground system, or stuff in the air.

I think the tengu city would be bordered by LA and their starter zone adjacent to the sylvari lvl1-15 zone. The current map would support this well.

Us civilised races only eat live prey.

Not really.

During the creation of Guild Wars 2 Tengu was supposed to be a playable race, but they got scrapped.

That’s why Tengu are more believable to be a playable race than Largos, really.

I don’t think that LA bordered thing will be their main city, simply because of the respect that the Tengu hold for the Dominion of Wind. It’s like Holbrak for Norns.

And perhaps a sky-map thing, but I highly doubt they’ll go underground.

However, it is possible that they might combine those 2 islands. with little ones in between.
If ArenaNet planned on making them a playable race before the game went out, I can guess they have a plan for their 1-15 zone as well.
It’s just that question that bothers me, what is the ultimate solution for that.

Yea I’m not at home so I can’t double check, but I’m 90% sure that area next to lions arch is also called the dominion of winds, which also includes the large area east of the sylvari area (think of it like a country, not just a single zone). Also, following the layout of Tyria in its current form, the area west of LA is very city sized and the large rectangular area that looks like it would be the exact same shape as the sylvari/asuran areas kinda puts some sense behind the theory. Another supporting fact that’s been mentioned is that they were to be a race at launch, and my explanation fits quite well with the speculation that preliminary work was put into the making of the areas for that race. I just feel like other theories are far fetched and looked to far into.
