I don’t have the technical means to do this or I would. I would like to ask those who have the technical means and the talent who suffer from the DR effect, to make videos of the typical open world run in Orr, in the dragon events and submit your video to these forums showing how a series of typical days of farming goes for you.

The only things I would ask is that you must be a farmer, you must play in open world for most of the footage and you must be one of the ones affected by the DR bug or open world loot bug.

It would be very helpful if you could cross compare a typical run from Fotm dungeon to show how starkly different the drops are in that dungeon. The footage typically can be sped up for the purposes of getting to the end of a farming session to show the results of the drops in each case.

I and many like me would be very grateful as this would be plenty of proof showing the contrast and the serious problems faced with open world drops.

I’m not a farmer, so I can’t really contribute to this, but I think it’s a great idea! I hope others can get on board with this!

Although I agree with this, we shouldnt have to do this.
We shouldnt be forced to WORK and catalog everything. This really is terrible and making people do this is wrong – especially from Anets side when they know what they have done. Are they compensating me for my extra time in gems?

We should be able to play and enjoy the game instead we have to do this extra work in order to “prove it isnt perception”. Not you tigirius but Anet.
The word of hundreds of gamers isnt good enough for them then frankly they dont deserve to have a good loyal base.

If I can remember to fraps before I start I will. But I have really stopped farming and just log in and to do my trades and log out. I dont make enough in the open world.
But I will try again.

But we aren’t doing this for Anet necesarily. Now this might help us to have visual proof of what is happening, but again this seems more for us. Not to mention Anet’s not forcing us to do it. You can if you want, or not if you don’t want to put in the time or effort.

The word of hundreds of gamers isnt good enough for them then frankly they dont deserve to have a good loyal base.

A few hundred players complaining about bad luck out of several hundred thousand players isn’t exactly indisputable evidence. I’m not saying there isn’t a problem with DR, but I’m personally convinced of nothing. I’d be surprised if Anet was.

At the game developer’s workshop, it was revealed that ArenaNet collects a lot of data, and gets statistics on players’ experience. An example given was a graph of average frame-rates across a zone map. If they care to, they can certainly get stats on drop rates, time to D.R., and other metrics. I don’t expect them to share the results with us. But I really doubt data collection on your own would benefit the cause.

It’s not going to matter. I wish it would but just read the two “official” responses in the now locked thread.

The first one essentially says “prove it” which there is (and they know it) no way to actually prove beyond strong hypothesis and fluffy math
(without empiracal data pre patch, regardless what lengths you go to now all data is meaningless…..and they know it)

Now, the last response, " concerns have been adresed", well, if I have to explain to you that’s a brush off, I don’t know how to explain the reasoning behind.

I think you do know, like most, and we are disheartened to see GW2 become corporate cash cow, nickle and dime grind wars 2

Great, closed thread. I see a pattern here.

Anet can’t be playing their own game, my alt’s are having such trouble getting relevant equipment drops. Instead of submitting my personal drops, I’ll assume the hundreds of players that were cut off with a lukewarm response don’t matter.

I don’t understand what the issue is. People are running into DR. DR exists. Why do we need proof of it?

I think they need to look like they care, keep some players busy collecting stats. That is the ultimate grind where gaming becomes an unpaid job.

They’re not forcing people to do it, they’re asking people to collect stats because people think their loot drops are bugged. ANet doesn’t seem to think that loot drops are bugged at all, so they’re asking the players who are running into those issues to document them.

No but they are forcing players to do it. As far as Anet care they don’t see a problem and want players to submit info.

Do you think the players running into this issue wanted this to be the game they bought, submitting stats? It’s Anet’s job to make the game fun, not ours.

It would take an enormous amount of hard drive space to make videos which will contain a sample size to show tangible data.

Unless someone wants to take a thousand hours of video and make spreadsheets with data this is not quite possible.

Trust me i completely agree with you, no one was more disappointed about how this thread was handled then me, but this video and if enough get involved multiple releases of these videos by farmers on youtube, would serve another purpose other then just showing Anet the data they are now requesting we repeat to them a second time. It would create awareness in the gaming community about how this is occurring and what happens in this game open world end game everyday.

People often say screenshot or linkit or it didn’t happen. Well if we showed everyone this is happening it would be so much more influential then seeing text in the forum. It might even show new players thinking of getting this title what will happen end game educating them before they spend money and get disappointed like the rest of us have.

Oh I’m not talking about a huge number of videos from one person, I’m talking about a single video per person. And not for sample sizes for statistics because that’s in their court, I mean to show the experiences of the players in this game via video capture so people can see for themselves the drops people end up with. (statistics can be handled by them I’m suggesting showing the gaming experience of the players so they see it’s not perceived and showing the community what’s occurring)
