Q:

So here’s a short and sweet one.

Does your movement speed increase if you Stow a weapon?

Now I am not talking about speeding up when going from combat to non-combat, I know that speeds you up. I am talking about if you are running from point A to point B while not in combat and you put your drawn weapon away do you move faster?

Just for the sake of argument we assume you are currently traveling below the 33% speed cap.

yes.

just run alongside someone with their weapons drawn whilst you have yours stowed.

you will outrun them.

the Queensdale Train is a good place to test this.

Interesting… diametrically opposed answers, anyone else care to chime in?

I would if I knew. I know that being in combat affects it. I’m just commenting because I love your response. Your language is nice. I like you.

Diametrically opposed sounds nice when I say it.

You don’t know me.

No, I stow my weapons all the time and never catch up with people without something else intervening (swiftness, cripple, they stop, whatever).

Nope. It’s not like Skyrim where having your weapon out slows you down. The game doesn’t care what state your weapon readiness is, only whether you’re in or out of combat.

AFAIK it doesn’t affect running speed, just in or out of combat does.

It’s easy to test, though… stow your weapon and run next to someone with their weapon drawn out and check who goes faster, but be sure it’s someone you know and not someone randomly in the world, because you don’t know if you or them are affected by a trait, signet, rune or anything else that affects running speed.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
