So, I had a conversation with a developer about the game and I mentioned movement not being synchronized to the servers and how it allowed for speed hacks. They asked why I thought ArenaNet would release a game in this state. I didn’t really give a sufficient answer, nor did I receive one… but It was clearly implied that this was intended.
Do you have any idea what he meant?
Why might ArenaNet release the game without preventing speed hacks?
I doubt it was an oversight. Maybe an attempt at allowing a minor hack, to catch those who use it and prevent more major hacks.
could it be related to mitigating lag?
I think it’s for performance, not security, and certainly not a deliberately unsecured area to serve as bait for botters.
