This is like, really basic. The option in chat for “Game Messages” includes notifications of what items you receive when looting, as well as when your friends log in and out, and probably various other stuff.
I would LOVE to have a split feature where I could see my friends login status, but not have to also see floods and floods of every single item I receive in game. If I’m waiting for someone to sign in to message, it’s tedious to have to keep checking and re-checking my friends list (not to mention having to search quite a bit to find their name in the first place).
