Introduction:
Though I love playing GW2 and enjoy almost every aspect of its content there is always one part that has been greatly lacking for a mmo that prides itself on being a community/guild focuses game: communication. I have been guild leader ofmultiple casual guilds and where I first am enthusiastic about getting things done I always get increasingly frustrated by the lack of ways to get a message across to my members or to create discussion. At the moment the only way to communicate in game is through the guild chat, one-on-one messaging with a cap on the amount of messages you can send per time and a cap on amount of messages you can receive and keep and lastly a message of the day.
For any other way of communication you need to go to a third-party, forums for example. Like I said I lead a ‘casual’ gamer guild and in my opinion this goes for a lot of guilds. Most members just do not want to check some sites first before coming online: they want to have fun with their friends in-game.

So problem:
Guildwars 2 lacks a proper way of communication between guild members.

Solution:
1. Allow guild leaders and officers to send messages to every member at once. This creates a way to quickly address problems and events in the guild without having to change the message of the day or accounting for offline members.
2. Create a in-game guild forum. I played multiple games (best example is browser-based Tiberium Alliances) where a guild was giving a forum-mechanic where topics could be created and discussion could be held without having to resort to a third party. Though I realize this is more of a long-time project I think it could easily be done.

Conclusion:
Dear Anet, realize that guilds are one of the strong-point keeping the GW community together and give them the space to reach out to each other. Because of the upcoming expansion and the original GW2 being free-to-play, GuildWars sees a great increase in casual gamers and accommodating to wishes like the ones mentioned above will allow them to enjoy every aspect of the game just like hard-core gamers. Hopefully you will take a look at these problems and help guild leaders and officers globally who struggle to keep their guild together due to lack of ways to reach their members.

The first thing we need is for the MOTD to actually display when people log in (that are representing the guild)

Have it display in guild chat, or in its own window or whatever.

Most rank and file members have no real reason to ever open the guild panel. They say “hi” in gchat to see who’s online, and they don’t need to check upgrade progress and rosters and other such things, so it’s often days before some of them see an important motd if nobody else mentions it, and often nobody does because they assume everyone else read it. So, you know, I end up constantly bothering people with “Hey did you guys read the MOTD?” “Guys, read the MOTD.” “If you wanted to be on that run the start time was in the MOTD” and so on and so forth.

Sort of defeats the purpose of the motd.

It would be great if we could just greet our guild members with the guild MOTD on login.
