AB Meta worth it now?
The AB meta is still the most rewarding HoT meta for how little time and effort you actually have to put into it. And the reason there aren’t many people there has a lot to do with the new map that came out as well.
I try to never do anything in the game for the rewards. If it is not fun by itself, I prefer to do something else. That said I stoped doing the AB meta when the multiloot became the standard, because people behavior became too toxic. Now I may go back to it again.

I think the toxic attitude started when the announcement of the pending nerf hit. Many were scrambling to do it as much as they could. Had they not announced it there never would have been that crazed attitude around it. While I don’t agree with the nerf I think it should never have announced it in advance. They should have just done it and moved on. All the announcement did was hype it up as the event to do.
No, it began way before.

I did the meta yesterday around 9 hours before reset during the very non-peak time slots where everyone in America is at school or work. I was the commander of the first map as I got there early, and it went normal as always. I was at south and it was a tiny bit scary just for me as a commander with how much the bomb got trapped, but it went fine.
So my thoughts are announce that the majority of the map is going for the meta, and ask that anyone else please guild hall or go to pvp lobby for a moment and come back so we can get more people on the wait list in. Then when it seems no one can get in anymore, kick everyone who can’t get in so that the other maps have a chance of forming. Then people in your map who worked toward the meta have a marginal chance to get back in.
But that’s just basic stuff that should be done for any map meta.
My thoughts have remained the same since the first MM was ever done, and that is:
This needs to be fixed immediately because Tarir is already the most popular map due to easy waypoint distance, best laid out HoT chests, the achievement, and needing to wait to go back in the city. Just a ton of factors that push the player base to Tarir instead of the other HoT metas.
So I’m just glad that the map is back to normal. I don’t understand any complaints that Tarir is somehow worthless now.

LOL no. The toxic attitude started around April and just got worse and worse.
Your problem, it seems, is that you spent way too much time exploiting the mm runs and now that it’s fixed you don’t get the same thrill. This is not a problem with the game, but a problem with your mindset. Might I recommend taking some time doing something that doesn’t involve gathering loot as the primary goal? Level an alt, do the first tier of a legendary journey, get in on a raid training run.

100% on target. Was waiting for the post-nerf post to come, and here it be.
I do AB every day (for the Auric collection, never done ML on purpose), and it is still the most active HoT meta by some margin.

There is zero problem with my mindset. Each player plays for their own reasons and goals. Some play for achievements, some play for the fashion aspect, raids, legendary weapons, etc. I play to de-stress mostly. Gathering for many is an activity that relieves a lot of stress. I feel like many on here love to pounce on anyone that doesn’t have their mindset.
If raids and legendary weapons are your thing then great, I’m happy for you. Maybe I’ll do them one day but at the moment I like the gathering aspect of the game and part of that got nerfed. Imagine how you might feel if they nerfed raids. I’ve seen no shortage of people who get upset at balance changes and I never see people pouncing on them.
Also if it wasn’t for us who love the gathering aspect of the game you wouldn’t have lots of materials on the TP to buy.

Started? I guess you never did it near HoT’s release.

That’s such bullkitten lmao. “Everyone can play how they like, don’t hate them for it. But, by the way, my preferred way of playing the game made the game more enjoyable for you so you should be thankful.”
ABMM was incredibly toxic for the game. It needed to go and the only problem surrounding the fix it was how long it was left alone.

I couldn’t disagree more. We don’t make the game. We play the game they give us. They could have stopped this on day one. When they didn’t they created the expectation it was acceptable. You can recommend all you want but we each have different likes and dislikes so it’s kind of pointless. The “problem” is not player based or mindset based. It was created and established by the devs.
Also I did not find it toxic at all. It just required some fairly basic understanding of groups and how they work, which was beyond some players current understanding.
A long running activity is simply not an exploit until the Devs make the change to end an exploit and despite this having several ways to exploit, they left it alone.
Never actually did multiloot but it’s not really a bad idea to do it if you happen to be there when it’s going. Naturally if you’re waiting just for it it can feel like a waste— much like everything else.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Would still be worth it if it didn’t fail 99% of the time.
I only play HoT since November but I had never seen Octovine fail until before last patch. Now I never see a successful maps anymore. Some time it even feel like people are making it fail on purpose so I just stopped bothering with it.
I just finished AB Meta and all lanes were packed and was a success.
On weekdays its a bit light but if you join a squad by using the lfg AB meta, you will always get enuf ppl.
It does fail more now than originally, but its still the best value gold earner for time in vs reward out in the game.

Use LFG, get there early and it won’t fail. It fails if you’re just banging around maps hoping to get a good one. Now it’s like all the other metas.
I wager it just needs 20 capable players, 5 on each side. Though finding 5 capable players isn’t that easy. Plus it obviously is a higher risk, so no one really would dare to do so.

It baffles me that Anet would remove the AB multi-map after it was in-game for so long. Players had the opportunity to participate in the AB mm, accruing massive hoards of currency because Anet didn’t remove it and chose to keep it for awhile. Those players then participated in the economy by using their gold on the trading post. But, seeing as how all players could participate in the AB mm, it was fair.
Now that it has been removed, the economy is royally screwed for those that didn’t have a chance or didn’t want to participate in the ab mm and is tipped in favor of those who participated in ab mm.
I’ve questioned quite a few decisions that the devs have made during the run of this game, but this has topped the list. Unless they have a plan to tip the scales back to a fair position… but I seriously doubt it at this point.

Exactly. Now it’s like all the other metas, not worth doing.
It would still be worth doing if I could just get in the map when it’s about to starts, pick a side that seems low on people, play the event, loot the chests, and go back to do something else.
The default reward for that easy meta in AB is almost comical in how many chests there are and how many items you can get so yes it’s still very worth it.
AB still gives the best reward out of all the metas from HoT. Whether it is worth it, depends on your value of time.
