So I have been doing ML for a while now, and here’s how I understand the works:

1. You do your map, and loot.
2. You then drag your icon to the lobby, and switch to that map.
3. You then switch to another map, and drag your icon to the map you just joined.

Rinse and repeat.
I get kicked for doing this, so I assume it is incorrect.

Although it is on point 3 I need some clarification.

Is point 3 correct or should it be done in the same way as point 2?
The reason for me asking is if you do it the same as point 2, you risk losing the map – happened to me on a ML.

This is simply because the player waiting to be relieved sees someone on his map, and leaves, while you are still moving to the map.

Subsequently the map is lost.

The other issue I have noticed, is that when you move to the lobby, you sometimes belong to an already active map, and not the lobby map itself, and you get kicked.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

There’s no “lobby map”. There’s only “lobby subgroup”.
And yes, you move your icon to the lobby before switching the maps, you move your icon to the correct map subgroup after you have switched.

Primary reasons you can get kicked:

1. you stay in the lobby for too long.
or
2. You’re on a different map that your map subgroup suggests.

Actions, not words.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Thank you for the clarification, I actually see where I went wrong here. The only switching is the actual maps, and not to the lobby subgroup, you just drag yourself there.

Exactly. The lobby group is only there to act as a temporary holding group so that people can swap groups without them getting all muddied up. You want everybody in group four to actually be in map four or else it gets extremely confusing when someone tries to taxi in to that map.

In short (and clear)

1) You are in map 4. > you opened all chests in map 4.
2) You move your profile to lobby (1).
3) You select another map lobby and join someone in that map.
4) You move your profile to that map lobby.

The reason is: it’s to prevent people from being in Lobby X while being on Map Y, also to prevent lobbies from dying. The risk of people leaving a map-lobby is higher if people don’t move through the central lobby, putting the access to a map at risk. That is why most groups also say “always leave 2 people on the map” so that in case one fades, the map isn’t lost. just shout ‘Care #’ and someone should join your map.
