ANET - Give us new armor skins, not Outfits
looking at the HoT beta…there are some interesting new armor sets and items.
Personally I think and suspect that the lack of armor skins is cause they need skins for HoT and use stuff that are only usable for outfits to keep the store refreshing in the mean time.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
listen to the OP anet…..he knows what hes on about, and dont release one set for all 3 weight classes it has to be UNIQUE for each class
i like outfits, in theory….as its nice to have a way to swap looks on a whim and not use up wardrobe charges……but it would be nice to have a higher ratio of armor skins to outfits than what’s currently being produced (since the intro of the wardrobe system, they’ve basically phased out armor skins almost completely)
armor skins are basically dead in GW2……outfits are much easier to program and it’s clear enough people will still buy them even tho they can’t mix/match and have fewer dye options. if people weren’t buying, they wouldn’t be making them
they will have a few new armor pieces in HoT as rewards linked to elite specs (we’ve seen some already…though not full sets)….and more in the future probably earned like the carapace skins from LS2.
MARA (EU) Gunnar’s Hold
Want to be able to customize my wardrobe with different skins, not be stuck with outfits that you get bored of after 1 or 2 days. No fun being stuck with a look that we cant customize at all, or the same wardrobe that we have had for the last year or so
Totally agree
I get they want to have an easier time with clipping and stuff with outfits, but it also seems like they are trying to make as many outfits as quickly as possible. We’ve been getting so many outfits this last couple of weeks/months. Im sure most people would rather they slow down the output and just make armor set versions so they can at least have fun with the outfits instead of dyeing 4 places and checking a box.
Yes, please. The phasing out of armor is a major problem.
This comes up every time…and every time I will agree. Please make these awesome outfits into armors. =(
I would buy so many more outfits if this was the case.
No new free armor skins since carapace/luminescent. Having cosmetics be an endgame goal and at the same time be heavily limited to the gemstore seems quite contradictory to me
(edited by Crossflip.4390)
Outfits literally defeat the purpose of the wardrobe and fun of GW2s endgame, which is essentially dress up. Outfits are bad. More skins please.
If they have to be generic to all weights just add more heavy/mediums/light Shoulder+Helm+Gloves sets since they can go on any weight comfortably.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
i have been using same armor combination for year now :/
certanly i did like some outfits and bought them but as OP said, you get bored of them in 1-2 days, especially considering how everyone and their mother looks same in them :/
[Teef] guild :>
My preference is for armor to be released in the game and outfits to be released in the gemstore. I imagine they’ve got their artists working on assets for Heart of Thorns right now, and that’s why we haven’t seen many newer sets of late. That being said, the dearth of content/updates is really not helping maintain any interest in the game, and that ties in to the last armor set being lumi.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

This is mine as well, id rather have armor be in the game and outfits in the gemstore.

I’m with these gentlefolk. Armor in game and outfits in gem store sounds good to me as well.
lol I see one of these threads every time a new outfit is released in the gem store. I still don’t know why they don’t have an armor and an outfit option for every skin. Then everyone is happy.
Once they are low on money, they start to care about customers. But not yet.
I stopped buying gems at all, I learned how to farm efficiently and I don’t care about their outfits. And this one, together with balthazar pijamas are bright examples of great armor skins converted to outfits. I’m sick of it.
So my thief could customize her armor and choose among several types of dumb trench coats to wear, with every single modification costing a transmutation charge?
No, thanks.
Both systems have flaws, but as it stands outfits are far superior to me and to many others.

The balthazar armor would look horrible piecemeal. Have you ever seen what it looks like when you turn off the head?

Thanks to anet there is no way to prove your statement simply because they butchered diversity and options with outfits. Turning off the helm is not the same as replacing it with another skin and what’s more noone would force you to change it at all however those who want to, would have this option available. Now this is impossible.
I like the outfits, its much easier for me to put one on and forget about it. Especially since I love to run new toons and not worry about changing gear all the time.

There is nothing wrong with outfits, but having more armor skins would be a nice quality of life change for most ppl. Doesn’t matter at all for the ppl who mainly like outfits instead, they can keep wearing their outfits, but most ppl want the armor skins for more unique looks

I too like the outfits for that same reason.
I got a bit fed up with trying to get the right dye combination for all the different kinds of materials. Also, no transmutation cost!
Perhaps outfits should ALSO come as individual pieces? So buying one would give you the outfit as a whole, but also the skin for each part. That way you can choose to either equip the whole thing without transmuting anything, or apply skins individually, which would require charges.
This would make everyone happy, would it not?
Outfits in the gem store. Armor in game. That is what they should do. And since there won’t be new ways to get armor until the expansion hits, then that would be the earliest they can give new armor in game.
Those wanting new armor either need to make a thread asking for new armor in the gem store or wait till new content comes out.
ANet may give it to you.
I think outfits are fine. There are still a lot of customizable armor skins. But what I dislike is just one outfit for all three armor classes. It takes away the flavor of weight classes. An ele with Balthazar outfit just doesn’t fit.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Oh this thread again. And I have to say it again: stop asking to not give us outfits.
Your title might be “ANET-Give-us-new-armor-skins”
These kinds of “don’t give them, give us” is really becoming annoying.

But that’s one of the advantages of outfits: As a female warrior/guardian you don’t always have to look like a piece of furniture. Some people like to roleplay, so for them it’s probably good, too.
But I see where you’re coming from and I’d also like more new armor skins. I’d also like more accessories like the scarf and the spectacles – they can create a totally different look without too much effort. A full outfit becomes boring after a couple of days, but more single items might be just as good as new armor.
Remember that many years ago, when GW2 was still in deep development, AN considered to abandon armor pieces idea for the one-slot piece. They stated that this way they wouldn’t had so much trouble with designing something that doesn’t clip with character model and pieces from different armors.
So basically outfits are residues of that.
What I’m afraid is that AN will lean towards outfits more and more because of this simplicity. And what I really don’t like is that they choose to forgot their previous principle to make armor for each type of profession so it would be easier to recognize who has heavy armor and who has light one.
Outfits are still clipping so their excuse is dead. The only reason for outfits development is it’s faster to make them so cash is easier. Great for bussiness, not so great for PR.
Outfits are still obviously built with the same tools as the armor pieces – in most cases you can plainly see the individual locations like the boots being separate from the pants or easily isolated gloves. The parts are still there, they’re just locked together.
Its a bit of a mystery to me why the assets aren’t being made available/sold as both outfits and as a stack of mix-and-match pieces for the armor weight class they are built on. People in medium/heavy professions could wear the Daydreamer Outfit and light armor characters could wear the outfit OR shuffle the pieces together with other light armor parts.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

New outfits? YAWN.
Call me back when there is new armor SETS, before that im not going to put any money nor gold to the gem shop.
I think clipping in MMOs is something you can never rule out. It’s simply not possible with so many different armor skins and outfits. How can you expect to have no clipping if you have something like a spinal blade and a greatsword?
To achieve this every single armor item must have exact collision rules which is insane: so live with the clipping, it’s really not that bad. Just look at WoW, your cape even clips through a chair ^^

There is a legitimate concern when a large percentage of players end up looking like clones of each other. Imagine how awkward it would be if you saw a line of mimes queued up at McDonald’s, make up and all, or if there were 20 identical soccer moms crossing the street.
I would really like it if outfits where broken down in to selectable armor pieces
I still want “just” the straw hat off one outfit but not the whole outfit
and also mixing and matching armor is a lot more fun than having the same outfit as everyone
One of Guild Wars 2’s major end-game components is supposed to be the “cosmetic” customization of our characters. I’m not against outfits, but it is breathtaking that ArenaNet have added so few additional armour pieces since release.
More armour pieces required!
More outfits! More!
Shake that moneymaker, ANet, and rain down more (heavy armor) outfits!
Because Balthazar (while cool) and Ceremonial are too.. twee.

At least there are plenty of light and medium options. The only choices for heavy to look heavy are Ceremonial (too fraufrau) or Balthazar (too burny).
