So I kept up with the release of upcoming features on a daily basis. Every day, I would read the new post ANET had for 3 weeks straight. I would then go see what the community thought about this in the forums.

During that time, they revealed the New Player System. This Feature Patch brought so much for the new players and I would read ANET employees responses that “Just wait and see what we have in store for veterans” or “We cannot reveal to much but just wait and see.”

Dear ANET, I’m still waiting. I feel like these promises fell incredibly short. I threw in $40 during the 2 Year Anniversary Sale. (thrown in more in the past). However, now I find myself lacking the want to even play this game. Through lag, broken aspects of dungeons, classes, etc., unnecessary nerfs, etc.

To sum up what I am saying… Veterans have made this game what it is today. Veterans have bought gems on gems to have a little perk or extra character along the way. This feature patch clearly shows that the system is more designed to be a “bait and switch” for the new players who bought the game, lets treat them extra special. However, if they play the game for any length of time then we figure we aren’t making any money off of them (as the casual player doesn’t buy gems).

Veterans, just have to take it.

The more I see “veterans” act like entitled elitist post over and over again about how anet doesn’t care about them; I just think, Okay? Stop playing. Go play another non monthly subscription based MMO. The end game is PvP or WvW. You complain about the game yet say “veterans have made this game what it is today.” So you complain about the current state of the game and also take credit for it. Make up your mind.

It’s easy to say stuff like that if you don’t care about a game. Be more open-minded and accept the fact that some people are more passionate about GW2 than other people. Your “shrug-whatever”-attitude doesn’t impress me!

Actually helping new players is the reward for veterans. Players who think they know how this game works but don’t spoil a lot of things, like world bosses, dungeon runs, they demand a class has to be nerfed because they are overwhelmed by it, they demand that starter areas are being nerfed, they demand that food is being nerfed, they demand zerker is being nerfed. So yay for helping (new) players to understand this game – might need some more work though.

Players who love the game and enjoy it will keep playing it and getting more gems.
Players who dislike the game, are not enjoying the direction of it and are not supporting the game are less valuable than the newcomers.
They already got the money from you, want to play, keep playing, or quit, doesn’t matter.

There are so much more old players than new ones it’s not even funny. Loyal and Veteran are some of the most common titles I see since they were introduced. Just about everyone has at least one 80 and they didn’t need any of the shenanigans 9/9 has brought us to get there. Far from it.

ANet really needs a public test server.

Meh… call me slightly disgruntled. No intentions of offending the 9/11 victims/families.

Its not twenty years yet. I think that’s the rule for making jokes about crap stuff. I’d imagine that for Americans it’ll be a lot longer than 20 years.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
