I’ve just noticed this while responding to another thread.

I have little to no faith in anything ANet says about the game, certain mechanics or even bugs they say they have fixed.

Patch notes are the obvious example where half the changes aren’t even mentioned and the other half aren’t implemented as noted.

When a developer comes forward to explain a specific mechanic I won’t believe it until it is actually confirmed by a 3rd party (player testing).

Why is this? How comes that after only 4 months of following my most anticipated MMO ever I have no faith in it’s developer whatsoever?

Is it the poor Quality Assurance track-record that manages to introduce as many new bugs into each patch as it tries to fix?

Or is it the series of poorly conceived design choices that have accompanies the game since launch (one-time events, Ascended Gear, free server transfers etc.)?

How come it feels like a AAA company released a AAA title and then went full kitten

Welcome aboard.
Sit back and enjoy sifting through hundreds of posts in the forums because you don’t trust them and want to know if they ACTUALLY fixed a specific dungeon bug, looking for players to confirm it…
Hope you enjoy the ride.

The Patch notes “lie”, it’s not like they are liers but some of things they said fixed are now with same or new bugs.

But I hope they would start to not break the game systems in a new patch like happened in DEC 3, alot of new bugs introduced there! (sadly)

Things avoided with a test server.

I can understand why ANet hasn’t implemented a test server yet. Look how much trouble they have running the servers they do have! I honestly feel that they just do not have enough time to invest in developing, testing, fixing, testing, fixing, testing, then implement on a test server, player test, fix, player test, fix… you get the idea.

I’d be extremely surprised if they didn’t implement a test server after about a year though. They just need time to get into the groove of things, and fix what they have first.

Phantasms became bugged, jumping broke (but has since been fixed), signets stopped working with arcane skills (elementalist), traits stopped working with transform skills (has also been fixed), and tournaments were broken (I think this has been fixed but I don’t do tourneys so I’m not positive)

There were a few more, I can’t remember them all.

Granted, I don’t even think that is bad. A bad patch is when the servers go down for a week, not when a few minor bugs are introduced. This game is great and they’re working hard on polishing it, but it’s going to take time that no amount of whining will speed up.

Well look at it this way, at least none of their patches have caused your PC to not boot properly. That has happened in a few AAA MMO’s I have played before.

Bugs happen – they fix them – hopefully quickly. Welcome to the world of the MMO.

The fact that they don’t have a public test server is in keeping with the general game design philosophy that prefers secrecy and wishful thinking over putting out tested, robust content.
