Due the release of the new AP use now we have a race for the 10k AP to get the current max level of achievement point.

Right now as casual player, logging since the head start and playing weekends and weekday night im sit at 5.3k AP, maybe in another year i can get about 9-10k.

Since anet is releasing new contest every 2 weeks and every one have around 150-200 AP in one month we can get around 800-1000AP doing dialy and monthly.

So Plz anet make the amount of AP we get from living story a little more high.

We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that.

I find simply don’t fair that I will never reach a certain AP in a strickly time even if I would because of lag. Many players also cannot do the automatic jump in the new race because they fall before (and so cannot do the achievement).

How many do you want?

I get that achievement points are how some people like to compete in what is otherwise a noncompetitive aspect of the game (PVE), but for most people it really shouldn’t matter as the rewards won’t go away and you can happily accumulate points at your own pace.

Unfortunately, having a laggy connection means MMOs will not give you an optimal experience. The box clearly states broadband is required. Either invest in a higher quality connection, move continents or accept that US/EU MMOs probably won’t be your thing.

Last option is to beg A.net for korean server that hopefully have less latency in Oceania with a dedicated server down-under.

You get 500 achievement points a month for completing every daily every day and every monthly every month.

Living Story typically grants around 200 points. There are 2 living stories per month.

~900 AP per month.

Then there are other achievements, which you most likely haven’t done, such as JP, Slayer, Weapon Master, Personal Storyline.

Well I get my AP through doing different activities in the game. I’m sitting on 5k AP at the moment, but with this patch, I’d like to earn more chests, so I’m simply going to branch out and do things I otherwise wouldn’t have done. I’m not going to get a bunch of energy drinks and grind out 1,000 achievement points in one sitting, they will come when they will come, they’re not exactly elusive.

Due to the way the WWW achievements are set up, that is very likely the area with the least overall contribution to almost anyone’s point total, unless that person is doing WWW exclusively. Killing big world bosses also does not reflect in the achievements really. Lots of areas which do give points do not require a super fast connection – mine has been rather sluggish mostly too.

I mean, what I should have NOT to do in order to have less than 3k APs from playing for at least 10 months?

I used to do dailies before they changed them. Then I started playing less around November. At this point, I rarely if ever completely my dailies, simply due to not having enough time when I can play in the evenings. While I do look at them, and I do get 2, maybe 3 of them done with my ‘normal’ play, I’d have to stop what I’m doing and specifically got out of my way to get the other 2 90+% of the time. With the pvp reqs for monthlies, I’ve never completed one. Oh well I guess….

You only have to do four of the monthlies to complete your monthly. I think it’s been like that since February. The monthlies have been pretty easy since then. I usually get them on like day 3 or 4.

Lol, like I said, I stopped really doing them/paying attention to them in November

Edit: Just for clarification, not getting them done doesn’t really bother me either. It is somewhat annoying to know that if I’d like to do them, I have to distinctly go out of my way in some cases (not all, but some), but I understand the point of it. I have plenty of things to do to earn myself APs, so I’m not stressing over a the few points from the dailies or monthlies.

Then I have to really ask what are you actually doing in this game. The daily achievement offers a wide variety of activities, 5of those are usually completed almost automatically. Kill x enemies, veterans, champions – don´t you fight in open world in case you play pve. deconstruct x items – don´t you collect and deconstruct for materials? gather x materials – do you run past all resource nodes (which the maps are abundant with), kill x in WvW/pvp – are you avoiding all fights in case you are a pvp player? The only thing that pushes you a bit are things required in a specified area, well, then play your time there, not a big deal with level scaling as it is in GW2. Sorry, I just don´t buy it that anyone has a playstyle that would totally bypass any of those activities.

OH wait i got the keyword GRINDING .. I want to be a top player but i dont want to grind the easiest thing in the world “kill 10 mobs or farm 20 nodes” WOW .. I want to have AP for some real challenges like be 100 first place in the spirit sactun or be first by not using any other skill then 2 ..Or the last dungeon where you needed to dogde every spell Thats The real AP people should get , and not for grinding

I recommend this all the time, but seriously, I believe you will be happier if you don’t chase any arbitrary goal that ANet puts in front of you. Do what you enjoy and that’s all. If you like getting achievement points, cool, but the minute it’s a grind, stop. Do something else.

You can burn yourself out with an achievement grind (edited not to put poorly remembered words in Vayne’s mouth. :-) )

The rewards are better than I expected them to be, but they aren’t THAT great.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

For me, Torch Master is challenging, or most of the offhand-weapon ones. Also, plants and giants. And jumping puzzles, I’m not good at those disappearing platform ones. I guess what I’m trying to say is: Difficulty/challenge is in the eye of the beholder. =)

Don’t say that! The entire computer/electronics industry is built on the habits of compulsive upgraders who buy the newest version of everything without ever realizing that it will be obsolete in two months just like the 3,251 nearly identical items they bought before it.

Imagine what would happen if people knew that their shiny new Limited Collector’s Edition Ipad Nano Uranium Mark IV was already obsolete before it was even advertised and that Apple has Mark V – Mark IX stashed in warehouses around the world waiting for sales of the Mark IV to drop so they can get everyone to hand over another $500 five more times before they have to actually come up with something new…

If people actually thought about what they are buying, the entire real-world economy would fall apart!

As far as now vs. later, one still must consider that getting something sooner also allows the owner to thoroughly enjoy what they have over the duration. That is its own reward, I find. I got my first legendary back in November…the time up until this point would not have been as enjoyable without it, because I choose to enjoy things in the moment and appreciate the ones that have passed as well. This is good for me because not all of us may actually have years to do all of this in.
