Guild Wars 2 is a great game. The original Guild Wars however could use a few touchups so that players that haven’t been able to play that game more thoroughly can access rewards and end-game content more easily. Right now if I wanted to play original Guild Wars there is a serious time investment because everything is so expensive in that game, plus they didn’t even update it to have a trading post. It would also be sort of neat if you could get credit for things you did in Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2. Like I’m just talking about changing the rewards for missions to include achievement points that you can still get in Guild Wars 2. Or something like that, just so that if someone wants to play original Guild Wars, it isn’t deserted because no one went back to play it. They could put a dodge roll in, or add whatever easiest tweaks they could add into that game to make it a little easier and more fun. They don’t need to add that much or put a lot of development into it. Just a little update is all I want. Right now it just feels like a dead game and it doesn’t have to be. Just some more connectivity between the old game and the new one would be nice. I know there is the Hall of Monuments but that has such minimal impact on Guild Wars 2.

Oh. Also original Guild Wars should be free-to-play. No cost upfront. No charge at all. It could help boost the numbers of players too that way.

This would be better served in a forum for Guild Wars.

Good luck.

There’s really no incentive for Anet to go back into GW1 and make changes. The game has settled into a stable, long-term maintenance mode, and opening it back up for new additions means spending time and money that just aren’t there for it. At this point, there’s no such thing as a “small update,” because even small updates require putting a team together to design and implement them, and then continued work to fix any bugs or problems that come out of it. Even something like dodge-rolling has room to cause a ton of bugs, and completely upset the PvP environment of skills that weren’t designed with it in mind.

Are there things that could make GW1 a better game? Of course! But a lot of those things are part of why we have GW2 instead of a fourth GW1 campaign, because they were impractical to reintegrate into an established, years-old system.

Short of introducing player-run servers, it’s the fate of every MMO to die out eventually. It’s nice that GW1 is getting a slow retirement, rather than a sudden pulling-of-the-plug, but it’s not really a big concern for Anet if GW1’s player number decline. Even if they made it F2P, it’s not exactly expensive right now, it would struggle to compete with other games (including GW2,) and there’s not enough cash shop revenue streams built into it make the switch worthwhile from an accounting perspective.

Guild Wars 1 is exactly right as it is.
It’s a wonderful game and in some points way ahead of GW2.
It shouldn’t turned into a GW2 jump board to get stuff in GW2 easy and cheap.

I hope they will never ever touch GW1 again because i still come back and enjoy it very much

What would be nice is if Guild Wars actually worked. Every time I tried to log in, it would tell me that my password is incorrect, and support was no help. I think it’s a lost cause by now.

You can get GW2 achievement points in GW. The Hall of Monuments, accessed by purchase of the Eye of the North expansion, offers up to 500 GW2 AP. That this pursuit takes a time investment is by design.

If your account is linked to gw2, use your gw2 password.

The Random Number Gods are nothing if not predictable.

If you don’t have the 2 accounts linked at this time, do so. Once linked the Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 logons are identical, same as the what you use to log into this forum.
