I understand Magic Find will be leaving at some point.

I didn’t read any follow up, was there any talk about what would happen to existing magic find gear? I’m not concerned with my crafted gear, but the jewelry I spent laurels/guild comms/fractal relics on. Will there be an exchange or is it AN’s track record to do something of this sort?

Say what? I doubt very much that MF gear will be removed from the game. If anything they may alter it or it’s use in some way but again I say I highly DOUBT it will be removed.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Who ever said “removed”? They are looking into it, because trading Magic Find for “other” stats doesn’t look so good after all, but there is no way they will remove it.

I say they should remove MF from this game. Is disgusting to Carrie the whole place a guy that slow down party and get better drops. Im no against boots and food tho.
When I see one dude using omnoberry bar I just ratain myself to use any boots stat item in any circumstance.

We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that.

They just made it available to view on your stats section of the hero window. That being said I don’t think its going anywhere. The stat does seem buggy though as it will work one day for me on my high magic find toon and then go poof! and act like it doesn’t exist. =/

The only reason MF doesn’t look good is because of a bunch a elitist are whining that their party is weakened by the non combat stat on MF and they just won’t stop complaining about it even though those extra combat stats aren’t needed for 98% of the game content. Everyone else is fine with it the way it is but Anet says they are looking for a new way of working MF cause it’s causing too much division in the community. Guess it’s true what they say about the squeaky wheel.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

According to a Dev in another post he said MF on gear is not something they want in the game. They want to make it innate stat you build over time. It will be leaving GEAR at some point, but not the game completely.

for some of us it doesn’t help anyways, it’s like some are cut off from getting any loot at all even with it on our gear. Maybe they’ll limit it to accessories.

That’s elitests for you. Kitten about magic find stats, because it ‘weakens’ your other stats, when in reality, you already have over 2,700 in power, and so DR kicks in.

If they didn’t want it in the game they shouldn’t have put it in lol. Seems to me they are letting all the rants about it get to them. All they need to do is allow the stats of it to cover everyone in dungeons etc or remove it altogether from being allowed in dungeons.

I used to use MF gear on my main for about the first 2 months of game play. To me it seemed like “Risk vs reward” existed in the game via that gear as you had a lot less survivability. Now hoever I don’t give a toss about it or loot and just like to survive and kick backside so what you say they are wanting to do sounds good to me. But it does remove that risk vs reward element tho.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

They could always just changes MF to some type of system of getting environmental weapons to drop both def and attk types.

Main : Jski Imaginary ELE (Necromancer)
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

They should remove it but they won’t.

But they need to make it not a choice between useless stat people think improves lottery odds and effective stats.

You should not ‘improve your loot odds’ by playing worse.
- That aspect they admit needs fixing, and I could be at peace with.

I don’t think they need to remove it but they should make it so if someone is wearing MF gear the bonuses go to the entire party. It’s obviously not a fix but it’s something.

As many have posted, I agree that MF needs to go to the whole party. It’s the obvious solution that solves everyone’s problem.

HOWEVER, it might be an issue in open world as this would be fairly exploitable. All you’d need to do is ask four friends to AFK on your map somewhere and boom, you’re farming with a ridiculous amount of magic find. In a dungeon where everyone needs to be pulling their weight this isn’t a problem, but I can see there being some issues implementing it properly.
