Hi guys!

I´m thinking of start to play this game again. Haven´t played it for a while and when i did a couple of years ago i only hit lvl 25 or something like that.

Anyhow i keep hearing that there is no gear to collect that improves your character in PvE endgame like it is in most other mmo:s. Is that true? If it is why should i bother to play this game? In my opinion the hunt for better gear is one of the best thing with mmo:s. Finally kill a boss and finally get that piece of gear you wanted for so long etc

If there is no possibility to get better gear and so on what are the rewards for completing dungeons and raids and so on? If there even is that kind of PvE in this game.

Im sorry if my English is bad, it´s not my native language, but i hope you understand what i mean anyway =)

Thanks for your time and merry christmas

It’s true that once you have acquired that highest tier gear (ascended)
You can’t improve your character statwise. (except for some infusions)

Everything after that is all about debatably looking pretty and more unique than others by obtaining rare skins and dyes.

For some it’s a turn-off when there isn’t a clear carrot to chase, but no vertical gear progression can also be appealing to people. It doesn’t make old content obsolete either and .. I was gonna say gear can’t carry you, but that’s not entirely true.
Basically improving your character is improving your skills with that certain class.

And yes there is dungeons and raids.

It’s true that there’s no tier of gear above the top tier, which wasn’t raised in the expansion. Here’s my take on it.

I want to be powerful myself, not to wear powerful clothes. I don’t want to be a coatrack for greatness.

In Guild Wars 2, if you want to be great, you have to be skillful, rather than wear Hogwart’s Amazing Coat of Awesomeness.

I’d rather play a game where actually learning to play your profession makes you skillful, more than what I’m wearing.

Well i kind of agree with the things you are saying. That it´s bether to be good at your class then let the gear “do the job for you”. But if i get this right, the only thing you get for completing PvE content are cosmetic kind of stuff? Is that not kind of boring? :S

There’s going to be Legendary armor, if that’s your kind of thing. Same stat level as ascended though.

No, its not boring, because there is no such thing as “PvE endgame”. There is lots of content and stuff to do sure, special skins to acquire and achievements to unlock. But the game doesnt end with PvE. Its only the beginning. The real “endgame” in GW2 is years and years worth of WvW and sPvP. PvE is a distraction on the side.

Honestly it’s the choice of upgrade components that are more powerful than the next tier of rarity.
