Is there any chance we could see stuff like. Mount skins being very rare drops from raid and fractal cm bosses. Mount skins that are awarded to the winners of the monthly tourneys as well as mount anet awards to winners if they ever do another pvp lan event. A kitten charr bike for mount in wvw gated behind x tickets or w/e.

Just in general more in game means to get some cool rewards. I think that would make alot of ppl extremely happy and more open on buying gemstore stuff.

Based off of the fact that not a single persistent glider skin is available outside of the gem store, coupled with the fact that the expansion is only $30 I can almost guarantee that;
1. There WILL be mount skins,
2. They will most likely only be in the gem store.

Kms. I had high hopes for mounts because they are just that more exciting to go for than gliders. And its been an ongoing complain that theres not nearly enough cool things added in the actual game for ppl to go for. Meanwhile theres something new i the gemstore every 2 weeks.

For me mounts are not exciting at all. They look fine, but I wouldn’t take them if they weren’t mandatory to explore the new maps.

I feel fairly certain one of the reasons they went through all the work to introduce mounts is for gem store sales. Look forward to every few weeks of something like, “Buy your sparkle fire blazing chicken mount in the gem store for a limited time.” I doubt you will see something in the game release notes like, “Complete this story collection to earn a special electro mega firework exploding rhinoceros mount.”

I can’t say I blame them. It makes good business sense. One thing I think they were smart in doing is that it appears that each mount has different abilities. So unlike gliders they are unique based on their skills. Skins that only apply to Springer mounts, skins only for Raptor mounts, etc. So they can sell skins that only apply to each of them. Pretty smart and $$.

It doesnt have to have partocle effects to be cool tbh. Nor does ot need to be easily obtainable. As witha lot of the infusions id put mounts in begind big feats or hard achievements etc.

This is the reason I’ve been changing my gold to gems to build up and also bought the 80$ PoF package. Just waiting to see what the expansion brings to the gemstore. If nothing good I will just finnaly buy more shared inventory slots.

Actually there is a single glider skin you can get without the gem store, and they’ve recently improved it. That’s the glider skin that comes with the Fratal legendary backpack. While I agree with your assessment, I have that glider skin and I didn’t pay for it,

But yeah, it seems unlikely that skins like that will be in game.

@ Vayne all 3 legendary backpacks give a glider skin (without cash shop involved).

There 100% will be legendary mounts. The only question is how soon, and how obtrusive.

Also thanks for the above posters for pointing out that there are at least a few skins available in game, albeit through significant effort.

Regardless, I like the idea of mounts, and the obvious fact that they are going to double as vehicle for gem store sales is fine to me. Low cost to entry for the expansion; costs can be recouped with optional purchases.

I just hope they arent tooooo over the top, like this thing….

Your screen survived the crow glider. Its gonna be fine.

If these ‘mount skins’ are just going to be rare drops from raids, fractuals or achievements, ONLY those hardcore players (ppl who spend hundreds of hours weekly playing this game) and gindfest lovers will be happy.

But if these skins are Gemstore exclusive, everyone will be happy, especially Arenanet. The choice is clear.

It doesnt have to be raids only its that its fitting for ppl who put efort and time.

Mount can be also achievement tied like for example codas flame or winterspresence. Windersday could have an collection with apolar bear skin for the jackal etc.

And even if it was just raids fractals monthlies etc whats bad about that? It would incentive ppl to try and for a change we would get something in game and not in the gemstore.
