AMA thread got locked while I was typing T_T

I understand that changing target number for ally buffs, especially passive, is hard to manage performance wise.

But I would like to give my opinion about this. I heard that the limit to 5 for aoe effets was made for wvw. I don’t know if it’s true but it makes sense to me. In other game modes especially pve, this limit (both for ally buffs and dps aoes) don’t feel natural at all. They have bad effects (like enemies getting invulnerable to some skills just because they have 5+ minions and lucky rng ; too much randomness for buffs in open world pve …). In raids, they bring gimmicky squad groups play which again doesn’t really feel right.

IHMO, the 5 target limits should be removed as much as possible outside of wvw.

I am OK with any raid boss buff that would be required to compensate for our new ability to only have 1 of each buff and probably have more dps builds.

Hopefully there is no performance issue for enemy-targeted aoe or even active buff skills. (at least in GW1 I could damage a lot of targets with savanna heat without ruining servers … and it was so much fun). Passive buffs with performance issue are another question.

The 10-target change should be reserved for profession unique skills and traits. Other standard buffing and damaging skills should stay the same.

So, things like Spotter, Assassin’s Presense, etc, as well as the Ranger Spirits should be changed to 10 targets.
