I’m not sure if someone has posted something about this, maybe someone can link me there. Anyways, it’s about the new dailies.

First off, I think it’s nice that ANet is trying to make it simpler, giving people a chance to get the 10 Achievement Points in an easier and less time consuming fashion, and also that people need only do a few dailies (3) to get the 10 points. Unfortunately, the dailies themselves don’t sit too well with me.

Mostly, I enjoy PvE. I’m an altaholic and like maxing my alt characters. I usually do dailies for that, letting them get the exp from it. The old Dailies allowed me to do just that. It wasn’t really that easy, but I could more or less do it in an hour, or less. The new PvE dailies unfortunately do not sit well with alts at times. I mean, how can a level 30 character do Events in Cursed Shore? Now I can always do it on my main or one of my maxed characters then pass the exp to my alt, right? But then what about the exp from killing stuff? It is minimal but it’s still exp which, when added, does contribute to the exp bar. What about the exp from the events? Can I pass that exp to my alt? Doing a daily that requires doing 4 events can give around 20% on the exp bar, and I don’t want that on a maxed character.

Of course there’s PvP and WvW, unfortunately I currently don’t want to go through the hassle. I mostly play casually and every few minutes tab out to read stuff online (unless I was doing a dungeon), I can’t tab out of PvP and WvW. And I believe that ANet doesn’t want to force people to do things they don’t like doing just for the sake of Achievement Points.

Anyways, this is just my opinion. I’m sure there are people who share the same sentiments. I’m just hoping that ANet would make the dailies more alt friendly.

I’m an altoholic too. I have tons of characters. I get my new dailies done on a high level character and for the rest of the day I can do what I want on my other characters. You still get the consumable experience anyway.

I’m not really seeing the problem here.

Because I like letting my alts get the exp from doing stuff as well? I don’t think you read it thoroughly. Just about everything you do in GW2 gives you exp. I don’t want that exp on a maxed character who doesn’t need it. I want that on an alt, so I prefer doing dailies on that alt.

Furthermore, you can’t pass Event exp onto another character. It’s not like I can just warp a low level alt all the way to Cursed Shore just to do events there.

I’m also placing this so that ANet would know and see if there’s a workaround. I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks this and ANet did say they want the game to be FUN for people. I like playing my alts, each of my characters are different from the others and I actually enjoy playing them to get them their levels. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of playing 24/7 so I count on Dailies to help get that exp. The old Dailies helped with that, and also allowed me to explore the maps while getting those Dailies done. The new Dailies not so much and it forces me to do something I’d rather not just to do those Dailies.

As I said, I do the daily in 15 minutes and I’m free to do what I want for the rest of my day. Or, just play your alt. It’s only a few achievement points anyway.

You can always get experience on your alts by playing them. If you must have 10 achievement points you’ll do what it takes to get them.

I can see it being a bit annoying but sometimes, you have to adapt. I’m guessing this is one of those times.

Because I’d rather do it in one go? Two birds with one stone? Dailies and then level my alt altogether? Like I said, I prefer doing it on a character that I want the exp on because I don’t have the luxury of being online 24/7 and I can only really play on my days off. If I can do all the Dailies on an alt in that 15 minutes, then I log out. The Dailies are extra motivation for me to level up my alts quickly in the limited time I have. And, letting a higher level character get the exp for my alt is boring and not fun. I mean, that character is just getting exp without me playing it at all.

After doing certain dailies you get a writ of experience (about 5% exp i think) which is account bound.
Couldn’t you give that to your alts to help them level up?
Just a thought.

I think people are not reading this thoroughly. Yes I understand that I can just do the Dailies on my main or another maxed character. I’m just pointing out that:

1) I’d prefer it if exp which I gain WHILE doing dailies, not after, are gained by the alt I want to level.
2) I prefer to do it in one go with that alt since it’s more time efficient.
3) Getting an alt to 80 without ever playing it once is boring. What’s the point making a new character if I’m not going to play it?

I’m not saying that the new Dailies is bad, I’m just saying that it’s not friendly to how people like me play GW2 on a daily basis. I only really did 5 PvE Dailies on the old Dailies and then that was it, I got exp and I finished it.

I was looking through forums to see if anyone else had similar issues to me. and then I found this thread.
I liked old dailies. even if I did them on my 80 – I could do them whether I was playing at the time. sure there was more of them. but at the same time – I could complete the daily AND monthly as a casual pve solo player, no issues. now… most of my choices are pvp related. and few pve choices are not only restricted to specific areas, but also there are times when I litteraly don’t have enough choices to begin with. like today. there are 4 pve options. rest are pvp. only 2 of them are solo casual friendly. one is high end crafting, which I cannot do yet (I’ve been leveling up my crafting slowly, but its nowhere near max. crafting system in GW2 is not casual friendly either) and the other is fractals. which is dedicated group kinda needed activity.

honestly? I’m seriously disliking new daily system. to the point of wondering if I should just move on again. I understand that it was supposed to make dailies friendlier? in my case it made them FAR less so then before. :/

There is absolutely no high end crafting in the daily. If you’re talking about the mystic forge, anyone can do it at any level.

You need four minor runes or four minor insignias. They’re cheap on the auction house if you don’t have them but you should be getting them just playing lowbies anyway, if you’re salvaging greens and blues.

Take either 4 runes, or 4 sigils and throw them in the mystic forge. Daily accomplished.

And if you save a couple of them, it’s even better, because it takes seconds.

It is important to keep in mind that the new daily system is not a replacement for the old daily system.

That replacement is the Log-In Rewards. They provide necessary currencies in a hassle-free manner which allows anyone to play however they want and not be forced to go out of their way (they actually do it better than the old dailies in this regard!) to gather a certain currency.
The new dailies are fully independent of this, so basically the naming is bad.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

You do miss out on kill & event xp but you recieve writs of xp and tomes of knowledge which more then makes up for that lost xp. I have a stack of both acquiring dust in my bank. I could level a new character to level 80 within minutes if I desired but where’s the fun in that?

ANet is throwing so much easy & free xp at us these days I never thought I’d ever see another complaint on the matter. Thanks for proving me wrong. Lol

You’re completely missing the point of the OP. Yes you get the numbers, but you don’t get to play the game. Clicking xp scrolls is a poor replacement for playing the game. There’s no joy, no experiementation, no playing. It’s the removal of fun from the game. The log in rewards are just as bad because they’re not actually rewards. They’re just given to you for nothing, removing the need to play, removing the joy of earning them.

OP wants to play the game with their new toon, not click repeatedly on scrolls.

I cannot believe that this is having to be spelled out. I’m amazed at the fact that people are actually having to defend the position of earning rewards through playing the game.

There’s something very wrong about that.

There’s nothing to stop you from leveling by playing the game, and getting a bit of extra experience from clicking. I’m not sure why that’s a problem for people.

Do dynamic events exist apart from dailies? Yes. Can you level through crafting or EotM? Yes. Can you run around the world, kill stuff and do hearts? Yes.

There is nothing to stop anyone from leveling by playing.

People who insist I must level BY doing dailies are only gimping their own enjoyment of the game.

Let me see if I’m understanding this right, you gave yourself a few restrictions (do only PvE dailies in 1 character) and you want the new system to fit your random restrictions?

There are some WvW and PvP dailies that you barely need to move to complete, many dailies give you exp scrolls that you can give to your alts, what else do you want?
