How many have people had over the course of their gameplay?

I have just scored for my 5th.

Lets see what the results are

quite honestly have had 100’s of dye drops, probably over a 1000 and never seen one

have had 2. played since late JAN. sold em immediately as the abyss dye really isn’t that good looking. midnight ice dye is 1000X better imo. i have gotten 7 of those

None here, although I did get a Celestial Dye once.

It’s not a problem – my 8 foot Norn Guardian looks better in day-glo orange, pink and green anyhow. Blinds the opposition in WvW for the easy kill!

I don’t think the enemy can see your armor colors. They see you in the color of your team, red blue or green. Could be wrong on that though.

As for Abyss I’ve had 1 drop. Got it in one of the Shiverpeak areas.

Got 1 Celestial from the 10-pack of dyes bought with Laurels.

Played since headstart, got my first 2 days ago. I have no lack of dyes so it was sold without a second glance.

You are wrong on that one, in options you can choose to view team colors on everyone including your team, team colors on enemies only, or no team colors at all.

For me, I found 1 abyss months ago when it was worth 4gold, i sold it straight away and thought i was rich and i was so happy

Been playing since launch and had 1 Abyss drop so far, and that was around 2 weeks after launch.

Playing a few hours mostly every day since Head Start, got 1 Abyss drop during that short time when Dyes were dropping frequently. No Celestial here thou.

I don’t see any sense in this thread except Bry telling everybody he got five dyes worth 100g. If it wasn’t rare, it wouldn’t be expensive. I got one from a yellow level ~15 moa, who cares.

I’ve gotten one celestial. Never seen an aybss or anything equally as rare. Been playing almost everyday since launch. Then again I stopped identifying my dyes about a month ago after I got all the colors I wanted on main.

Best Dyes I’ve had randomly drop were 2 celestial dyes around the first week of head start. Then nothing until a single white dye from mystic forging random dyes recently.

I always id every dye drop I get.

Well I just bought it for the 5th time for my latest alt, if that’s what you mean. Otherwise, no. Never. The rarest dye I’ve gotten is burgundy. (And the most expensive was gold)

I had one.

The other day, my daughter (12) bought a few unidentified dyes off the TP. Scored a Celestial. I helped her sell it, she’s quite happy with the 10 or 12 (I forget) gold she got for it.

I had one drop. I gave it to my daughter on condition that if she gets one, she gives it to me. She got one and sold it.

Been playing since BWE1. Haven’t seen one yet.

Got a midnight fire on my first week.
Got a black a few months ago.

I spend almost all my laurels on dyes and have not seen an Abyss or Celestial yet.

I’ve gotten one drop of Abyss, and bought one as well.

Dyes drop in GW2? barely ever get any…

None. No Celestial or Black either – have not been super lucky with dyes. I would just sell Abyss though, and buy Black for my Ash Legion Charr since the difference is minimal enough that I would rather pocket the extra gold.

I sell unidentified dyes. I refuse to gamble.

I received one on my Thief waay back. My first dye drop in Orr on my first character to reach Orr.

It’s the only Abyss I’ve received. I also used it before I realized it was valuable :O

I’ve played since October, had 1 drop. Funny thing is, I didn’t even know I had it. I must’ve identified it in a dungeon and quickly used it to make space. Luckily it was on the character I would want it on. Although I would have sold had I known about it, I’m now glad I have it.

I’ve played since Early Access and I have 4 level 80s and a level 40 and I have never gotten a single one.

I don’t like gambling and don’t ID them; I just sell. Is it worth it to ID?

Abyss was the first Dye I ever found, before release during Headstart. May of been in Caledon Forest, not sure. Haven’t found another one. I always open unidentified dyes as well. I also found Abyss during a beta weekend, it must of likes me and followed me into release. :P

You’re entitled to your opinion but I did not make this thread to brag, I am interested to see what the drop rate is.

Yes I have had 5 but only 2 have been from open play unidentified dyes, 1 was from the Mystic Toilet and the other 2 came from buying varying amounts of unidentified’s from the TP so I have not scored for them without spending or gambling.

Two since the game went live. Used one, sold the other. I also got one on the last day of Beta, but fortunately didn’t anticipate how big a deal that was so it didn’t bum me out that it was wasted.

None. Playing since BWE2. Haven’t even gotten a white or celestial or gold. I got humiliation though.

Playing since launch, most expensive dye I’ve had drop was black (it was about 5g on TP when it dropped), sold it right away.

3 Celestial (found 2 on a lowbie right near launch)

2 Here, the first one I used myself, the second one sold for some nice gold

My friend who plays much less already has had 2 Abyss drops…

This whole dye discussion is stupid and pointless. Having to buy colors in the shop is lame. Dyes not being account-wide is lame. In WvW your armor is red green or blue anyway, so thats lame. In PVE nobody even looks at you anyway, except you looking at yourself. Anet should just make the whole colorpallet available for everyone, for free and be done with it.

None. But I haven’t opened an unidentified dye since the first week of the game. I’ve made enough selling them at 15-17s a pop to buy several abyss dyes, if i wanted one.

484 hours in and I’ve had 1 drop.

It came from a low level enemy in the Sylvari starting area when I was playing a low level character. I know it’s completely random and any unidentified dye can turn into any dye but for some reason I feel like it should have come from a high level zone.

I had for long time, dont know when picked up exactly. Does not seems like anything special, i use it for the Krytan Armor set i use in WvW.

1 around september when they were worth around 5g which was a lot to me at least

0 since launch..Opened more than 500+ dyes, still nothing.

Just got my first last week opening a BL chest.

Also got one on the LAST day of open beta. Figures.
