I’m sure I’m not the first, but I just spent a ton of karma (42k, pretty much all I had) on something I didn’t want, just because a misclick. Fortunately, I can use the item, and I’ll probably save karma for the rest of the set now that I already have a piece (Unless I find one with better base statistics, in which case I’ll rage like there’s no tomorrow).
Still, I’m worried about this happening again. I suppose ArenaNet can’t do anything about it (if you can, I would like to revert the purchase), but imagine if you misclick over a soulbound item you can’t use, and lose a lot of karma or gold.
I think there should be something implemented to avoid these things from happening. Something like an “Are you sure? Yes/No” for expensive items, for example. Or the option to give unused items back for 2 minutes after purchase.
I can’t imagine the face of someone who misclicked and bought something expensive and soulbound his class can’t use. I’m glad I misclicked on the light armor instead of the heavy or medium ones, for example, but I was fine with my armor and didn’t want to get that in any way.
Agreed on the Yes/No feature. A reasonable and handy feature that would save many players a hassle of a mis-click.
As for Anet being able to do something, most likely not. Last I heard from one of the reps, they do not have the current tool to perform rollbacks or fix issues like this- yet. (I’m sure they’re working on something for the future, though.)
I was previewing items on my mesmer at one of the temples in orr and thought, hmm wonder what the leather set would look like on my thief and I accidentally spent 42k on a pair of leather pants that i can’t even wear and are soulbound to that one character. No “do you really want to purchase this?” or anything. In the past i had a habit of previewing everything on these high priced vendors and it didn’t matter b/c i didn’t have that kind of karma, but I’d be very careful interacting with any high priced karma vendors, it’s very easy to accidentally buy something you don’t want and can’t even use. Not sure why it would even let you buy an armor class that is soulbound and unusable. If it had atleast been a piece of light armor i could have used it, and I was thinking of getting a light armor piece until i got the brilliant idea to preview all the models.
Really sorry for you, ravenelle. Happened the same way to me.
I bought Light Arcon Garb of Dwayna. I’m an elementalist, so I can use it, but I’m not sure about if I like the Superior Rune of Dwayna or not (it’s all about healing, and I like playing glass cannon, going pure dps with low defense…). At least, all the armor at this level looks like the best ingame, and shares all stats, except the rune.
I don’t play a lot so I had 44k karma more or less. I intended to buy the cheap armor, the one that’s 1k and is distributed between different vendors. Now I’m totally poor and I’ll need a lot of time to get the 10-20k I need for the armor I originally wanted :S.
