I, Like so many other players hate grinding for gold. Due to the fact that i find it so hard to get, unless you cheat, and then you’re swimming in it. Which drives prices up, making it harder for the legitimate player to afford the things that keep them playing.

Anet probably (maybe) knows this, and are (slowly) taking steps to put a dent (really really small dent) in this giant wall of steel made up of hackers, scammers, gold sellers, and botters.

The obvious problem is limited resources. Be it man-power, funding, know-how, or what ever bottle neck they are facing.

So I thought i’d pitch in with one I recently found.

This guy, OmniGW, claims to have made an “instant 80, skill points, traits, and gold generator”

Being the curious person I am, DLed the thing on my Linux box, ran it through a decompiler and found the following: (oh how surprising!)

What this program is, is a bunch of empty fields you can fill in that do NOTHING!

Except for the Account name and Password boxes.

When you put your info into those boxes, This OmniGW guy (lives in GB) gets sent an email (omni247123@gmail.com) with the Subject “Account” and body “Username: Password:”
attachted to that Email is whatever you put in Account and Password.

BUT Methal! all those peoples says it works!

OMG! IKR? Guess what? they are lying. Checking on their youtube accounts they are a)linked to the same Email address (omni247123@gmail.com) or are also based at the same physical Location as this scammer. (except one who thinks hes from sweden.)

There are NUMEROUS programs such as this. There are dozens more that actually DO something.

There are programs that will teleport you, make you run through walls. Hell 3 hours of WvW and I see them everywhere. Entire guilds that can teleport themselves anywhere on the map.

I know that throwing this guys personal info in here was probably not the nicest thing I could do.
But if youre going to lie, cheat, and steal, does anyone care if you get exposed for it?

So onto the point. Avoid this kind of stuff. If you are buying gold, youre likely buying gold stolen off another player. If you are new to this kind of thing, TRUST NO ONE!

There is no reason, ever, anytime to give out your account info. In 15 years of playing MMO’s i’ve never shared my account info with anyone. Only those that do, can get compromised.
