Hey guys.

I wanted to bring up a topic that has kinda been bothering me for a while now. The real gist of the problem that I want to point out is that it feels to me as though ANet, through more recent developments, has not been very considerate of players when it comes to inventory and bank space. They’ve introduced new currencies and mats that tend to take up a lot of inventory space very fast, and these include, but are not limited to, things like Bloodstone dust and other T6 mats, Geodes, Bandit Crests, Spinal Blades, Heirlooms, Festival Tokens, WvW Claim Tickets, Black Lion Claim Tickets, various Wintersday clothes and more.

Now a while ago, ANet also introduced a new system that was meant to alleviate bank space problems when it came to various currencies taking up our inventory slots, and that was the wallet system. The idea was that those currencies that were used for purchasing items from various vendors would be added to the wallet in an account wide format so that not only would players not be hindered by thousands of tokens littering their inventories, but it would also be more convenient because you wouldn’t have to move said tokens to and from your bank every time you wanted to swap characters.

The biggest issue, given this, is that since the wallet system was introduced, ANet have not utilized it properly when it comes to the introduction of new currencies that have arrived post the time that system went live. Although I can understand items like bloodstone not being added to the wallet – because they technically count as crafting mats and not as currency used to purchase items – I don’t see why currencies like festival tokens, heirlooms, bandit crests, geodes and WvW tokens should not be added to the wallet.

For me personally, my inventories for a few of my characters are being flooded by bandit crests (as an example) and no matter how much I seem to spend them, I always get them faster than I can use them up. This leads to a lot of frustration and I often end up having to either spend the tokens on things I don’t really need (like an excessive surplus of bandit keys), or I end up just destroying them, which is something that could easily be alleviated simply by adding them to the Wallet instead.

It just kinda bothers me because it feels like they’re intentionally trying to inconvenience us and force us to buy more bank slots when they could streamline the system more, which is precisely what the account wallet was meant to do. They added it to the game, so why not use it as it was meant to be used?

Yeah, it’s a headscratcher. Part of me thinks this is just some weird backend problem with currencies that they haven’t fixed yet…

I think it’s probably too hard for Anet to figure out how to fit the new currencies into the horrid grid that is the currency UI.

Bandit Crests, and geodes should both be in the account wallet, they are after all a currency like dungeon tokens are already and regular fractals relics. so i agree with those. Festival tokens i do not as they are a yearly event, cant be done every day, and would server very little purpose to add them in(in my opinion)

small correction though, wvw tokens are already part of the wallet, if you are talking about Badges of Honor that is.

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.

You kinda answered your own question. They are crafting materials and should not be counted as currency. Geodes and Bandit Crests, agreed… but the rest are seasonal or no longer available.

I mentioned those crafting materials to highlight the trend of creating new items that take up large amounts of inventory space. But, crafting mats aside, Geodes, Bandit Crests and all the various tokens all count as currency and can only be used as currency, not as crafting items. Therein, I don’t see how I answered my own question, unless you’ve muddled the context of my words.

Not all of those currencies are seasonal either. And, even for the seasonal ones, not everyone will manage to spend all of their seasonal tokens they have and some will have leftovers, or will want to save for the next year when they can acquire and spend them again. Now they have to sit with tokens in their inventory for a year+ which is even more inconvenient. Once again, it’s a situation that would be absolved by adding these tokens, as well as all other currency items, to the wallet, where they should be.

As I mentioned in my post above, not everyone can spend all of their festival tokens during a seasonal even and they often end up with leftovers that they save for the next time that event comes around.

In addition to that, sometimes people don’t spend their tokens right away because they aren’t sure what to spend them on. For myself personally, I still have a lot of WvW tokens that I have yet to spend and they take up a fair amount of inventory space. I see no reason why these shouldn’t be added to the account wallet as a currency for the sake of convenience, especially for wvw tokens considering wvw seasons happen more frequently than other yearly events.

I don’t think we will be seeing a use for Heirlooms again. You can probably safely destroy those, unless you are like me, and save one of everything released for nostalgia’s sake. Lol.

Some things would be nice in the wallet, but others? I don’t agree about the festival-type items.

Regardless, good luck on your suggestion.

I could not agree more

At least for Bandit Crests and Geodes
(and if possible also the lockpicks so i can join the areas on every character and not just the one that has all the lockpicks…)
Blade Shards still drop and can still be used for crafting so they should be included too

there is probably no need for event-only related tokens in the wallet but maybe they could make some additional section in the wallet that has to be opened by another click that takes all these limited-time tokens and the ones related to events that only take place 1x per year for example

that looks really good and would be a nice solution!

and i like that it included candy corn since it is mostly used to buy stuff from the vendors and to use it for puking (i love puking on my friends when they die in dungeons) and for the Candy Corn Gobbler

Agreed completely… see signature. Colin has a post on the first page of my thread with their thinking.

I appreciate being able to spend crests/geodes/crafting mats from my bank, but I still want crests/geodes in the wallet.

I have 60 characters. I have space problem too.

I think the problem is called hoarding. Deep down you know 90% of the things you hoard have no use, but you keep hoarding them. Just in case they find a use in the future.

For example http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Princess_Miya%27s_Wig, should I trash it or not! What if they find a use in the future!!!!

Why am I even stocking up one time use hair kit when I have a permanent one! But those cost a fortune on the gem store!

What if apothycory become the new meta! Better stuck up those ascended ring from fotm!

Laokoko, some of that might be true for one pane of my bank, but the rest is account bound stuff. I have a personal guild bank to put potions, runes, sigils, excess crafting materials and recipes. The only stuff I tend to destroy when space crunch happens is a few misc skins that I’ve unlocked that I was saving to use later. I’m down to one bank pane with skins, the rest are account bound items or the immediate use crafting materials that I don’t want to store in the guild bank. One of my characters is almost full of dragonite ore and another is hoarding champ bags (I don’t know why anymore…she just is). I have a full bank tab of bandit crests that I’d love to free up for other account bound stuff.

Yeah, this would be a good solution because it would also be easy enough to add and remove stuff from the wallet without needing to worry about design aesthetics being messed up.

Yeah, I’m actually honestly not much of a hoarder myself, except for those ascended rings (I just can’t bring myself to sell something like that for a few scant silvers at a vendor). Aside from that, I only keep stuff I know I’ll use or that I’m keeping for investment purposes (like skins I know will go up in price, or precursors, etc). I do know a few guildies that love to hoard though, even going as far as littering their own inventories with normal, rare items.

However, things like bandit crests tend to pile up even if you’re not trying to hoard them and even if you’re spending or destroying them all the time it is kinda annoying to have to always organize your inventory over and over, especially if you play in places like Drytop or Silverwastes regularly, where you’re getting geodes or crests really fast.

I’d want all the currencies added to the wallet for convenience more than anything else because it also means that I can switch characters without having to worry about moving currency tokens over to a new character every time. There’s nothing more annoying than getting to Silverwastes with one of your alts only to realize that you forgot to move some of your bandit crests over to him, which is a nuisance only further aggravated when you remember that there are no banks in Silverwastes either. The same thing used to happen with gold back in the day, which you had to deposit in your bank regularly whenever you wanted to buy items on another character.

The wallet was designed to alleviate these issues, but unfortunately, we end up going back to square one again whenever a new currency is introduced. I’m actually rather surprised by the lack of foresight in this regard.

For sure. I mean I could spend the bandit crest now to buy obsidian shard or crafting bag. But what if Anet fixed condition damage and it become the new meta.

But what if I spend the crest on trinket but Anet never fixed condition damage, that’s just a waste. So hard to decide! Let me just toast those bandit crest to storage.
