Why give us more exp scrolls and not let us use the cake gun on new characters?

Every character gets one when its their Birthday. That is what it means to have a Birthday. Its not Anet fault you decided to change to another main.

So why are all the other birthday gifts account bound?

Well, the experience scrolls are for new characters and disappear once you use them.

If they were soulbound, it would defeat the purpose as they will only take a character to level 20. It won’t add 20 levels to a level 45 character. It will take a level 19 character to level 20.

That makes no sense.. the Birthday Present is for the CHARACTER that reaches 2 years old, not the account. If you made it account bound, then you’re alts are effectively having their birthday present before your birthday.

Besides there will be an abundance of birthday cakes everywhere anyway.

It seems the cake doesn’t overwrite other food buffs. In fact, if you have another food buff, you can’t get the cake buff.

Cake is essentially a free, permanent karma, exp, and mf banner. I shouldn’t be stuck playing certain characters to get it.

Are you saying they made it so you can have a food buff and the other buff and the cake destroys that buff to apply the birthday buff. If that’s the case its broken, as people will just go around trying to trick you into loosing the buffs you already have.

It’s not. As Palador said, if you already have an existing food buff on you, you will not be able to eat the birthday cake to get its buff. (Which can actually be a bit annoying if you want to replace your current lowbie food buff with the birthday buff.)

Maybe the birthday cake should be changed to function like feasts. If you want to eat it, run up to it and press F. If you want to retain your current food, don’t do so.

I have two characters that are 2 years old now, but I got the gift only for one of them. If we get just one gift for the account, then please make the Birthday Blaster account bound, because I don’t play my first character often anymore

They’ll come. I just got gifts on four of my characters so everyone gets their own birthday blaster.

I’m not so sure, the letter it came in said it was for the birthday of your account, and mine came in today, even though I created my first character a week after launch because of computer trouble.’

This is a silly argument. None of the mini pets in gw1 were soul, or even account bound. In gw2, I can use the scrolls and boosters they give to level alts. I can even wear my “Veteran” title on new characters, so why can’t I use the blaster on them? The blaster is the only one that gives a permanent in-game advantage (free food with karma/mf/exp boost), so it should be account bound.

Patience is not the issue, storage space is. At least for me. Most of my characters will be getting one promptly anyway. If I put it in the bank I won’t be able to tell which goes to which character without logging in and out with all of them (message is that is it soulbound to “Another character” but won’t say which). I also don’t like inventory bloat in a game where you pay for inventory.

It is a cool item, but I may end up deleting it on some characters for space. It may be a definer between have’s and have nots.

You can never please everyone I guess. Much like GW1 had birthday gifts given to each CHARACTER on their birthday, GW2 is and will continue to do the same thing. If you are having issues with space, maybe you should buy more bank slots.

Things that go in the collectors tab are account bound or not bound at all. Monikers go to the collectors tab. It makes zero sense to give 1-20 scrolls to characters who are level 80, so they are account bound so you can move them to a newly created character. Titles are account bound due to the system used.

There is no game required reason for the blaster to be account bound, so since it’s related to character birthday, it’s soulbound.

And in GW1 you could move the minipets they gave to ANOTHER character.

Key run characters will have a massive boost if it was account bound.

I did i have 2 that got presents and i have 5 character slots
think of this as an achievement for sticking with ur character for so long (that u can get more than once)

Why does my 2 year old ele deserve a birthday blaster and not my 1 month old one? I wouldn’t care if it were some cosmetic thing, but free, infinite +40 all stat and mf/karma/exp boost food isn’t cosmetic.

2 years of playing the same character as apposed to playing a character for a month (it really speaks for itself)
i mean you would have put alot of time into this character and its probly at max stat already (mines not) so they want you to have something a little extra for him or her because you cant really get any higher than where your at
if u give it to everyone the point of gear kinda becomes moot in low level areas

I actually see the reason behind it being soulbound. It is for that characters and eventually every character you have will have one.

I have full ascended gear. I can make a new character and level it up in days and play him. But why bother now? If this and whatever they give us next year is character bound, then I have zero reason to spend gems on new character slots, zero reason to spend money on bag slots for alts, zero reason to spend money on shiny cosmetics for them. If I want to be efficient, I will stick to the same character.

That’s boring.

Should have been account bound to begin with in the first place. Even if this isn’t GW1 it still doesn’t make sense on having it soulbound, making it account bound will not hurt anyone.

And you can actually please everyone this one time, those who want it on the char they got it on can keep it there, others can move it around as they please.

For all that matters all those saying “this isn’t GW1 blah blah”, I remind you that the Mini Queen Jennah is account bound and that’s in GW2.

i mean you can if you want but i dont really think they wamted or inteded people to want to rush right to the end of the game as fast as they can
