Even if the exotic chests from the dailies could drop precursors, they are not account bound.

Get Twice-Told Legend or treat it like any other account-bound exotic, I guess. :o

Are you sure about that? Every other named exotic that is not account bound usually are account bound by opening the chest.

Hrrrmn. As an addendum to the above, you could go ahead and make the legendary, then sell it for the cash to buy another legendary you actually want.

that is a good idea actually. Shame that it has to involve additonal TP fees though.

Precursors aren’t account-bound unless you ‘equip’ it once, so isn’t this is all very hypothetical?

Any exotic obtained from the chest is immediately account-bound, so far it’s only hypothetical in regards to if they even drop a Precursor.
