I’m not claiming to be the first one to make this link (although I haven’t read it on the forums yet) but the living story achievement lists (Southsun & F&F) remind me of a quest log. Just an observation.

It sorta is since it’s all the activites/quests that the devs have provided for us to play. I think they can easily reduce the number of achievements and bring things like the sample collecting achievements under an actual heart NPC. Finish all his tasks and he will offer the backpieces for some number of karka shells or karma.

That’s definitely how I’ve been using it, since about Halloween.

The normal achievements I pretty much ignore, maybe when I feel like I’ve run out of things to do I’ll look through the list to see what I’ve missed. But for the limited time content it’s one of the quickest ways to see what’s available and what I’ve missed.

Although it’s usually worth checking the wiki a few days in (when people have had time to write decent articles) in case there’s something that doesn’t come under the achievements.

I get what your saying, but the achievement list is just there in order for players to know exactly everything there is to do.

If they did not have this, you would have a ton of players complaining about being lost and not being able to figure out what exactly they have to do to get their rewards.

I prefer the achievement system to the hearts, altho its less organic. It is clearer and more manageable from a gameplay pov
