I don’t PVP, ever, so why don’t my achievement chests give me something useful for PVE???

I’m fed up getting honor tokens and other PVP rubbish I’ll never use.

You get gold, laurels, MF boosts, exp boosts, Karma boosts, Weapon Skins, Armor Skins and Badges of Honor can be used to buy cheap exotic weapons and armor.

Stop complaining when it should be the sPvPers.

Deposit collectables, put siege weapons in guild bank (someone will use them for WvW), use Honor Tokens for WvW armor for skin or 500 tokens for Gift of Battle (Required for legendary), and destroy rest of PvP gear that you do not care for.

Not something to get upset about & throw hands up in the air over really.
This is coming from someone who only went into WvW for badges for legendary & that’s it.

Blueprints can be sold on the marketplace. Badges of honor can get you cheaper ascended gear or exotic weapons and armor. The other PvP stuff can be deleted.

Anet awards everyone the same thing, so they provide rewards for PvE players, PvP players and WvW players all at the same time. You use the ones you want.

MOST of the rewards are PvE oriented. Gold, karma, laurels, karma, XP and magic find boosts, weapon and armor skins, revive orbs (can’t be used in PvP), repair cannisters….I don’t even understand what you’re talking about.

I’m 90% a PvE’er and I’m stoked. I even got a makeover kit one day.

And if you don’t care about the PvP skins, you can salvage them and use them in the mystic forge in PvP to craft dyes.

I guess the boosters are supposed to make up the reward for the PvE crowd.

The gold and laurels can be enjoyed by PvE, WvW, and PvE.

The PvP gear is for the PvP crowd.

The badges of honor and blueprints are for the WvW crowd.

BTW…if you go into sPVP and equip some of your new PVP armor skins, you’ll be wearing that armor anytime you go into a mini-game that uses the sPVP tech (like Spirit Sanctum).

The badges of honor and blueprints are for the WvW crowd.

Yeah because you totally cannot:

  • Use Badges to save on laurels for Ascended items
  • Use Badges to get level 80 exotic gear for your character (cannot MF those though)
  • Sell the Blueprints (upgrade to superior first, sells for more at minimal additional costs)

No one said the PvE crowd CAN’T use those things. But those rewards are geared towards the WvW crowd, plain and simple.

Nothing stops the WvW crowd from using the boosters, but they are most certainly included for the PvE crowd as rewards.

I am not saying these things are useless, just that certain rewards in the chest are geared to certain players.

I’m always very puzzled when I read these threads.

Anet implemented a very generous reward system that literally caters everyone very well. For free! Other than that, these chests provide an amazing incentive for new players to obtain achievement points, sign in for their dailies, and participate in all possible content offered (PvE, PvP and WvW). So it’s fantastic from a business and player point of view. Please, just… stop it! Stop it now!

Didn’t appear that I could salvage or MF the PVP gear that I was given.

This is simply not true.

Everyone who PvEs can use badges of honor. In fact, you need 500 badges of honor for a legendary weapon. One of the hardest things for PvE’ers to get. They used to be called badges of jumping by some people because some people would only get them from the jumping puzzle.

Aside from that badges of honor can be used to buy exotic armor and weapons usable in PvE. It can even be used to buy ascended gear for less laurels.

I am well aware of the uses of the badges of honor. And I am very familiar with the badges of jumping from creating my first legendary.

I was simply stating that it should be obvious that these were included to give some reward to the WvW crowd who otherwise were going to be left out in the cold.

The same for the PvP gear for the PvP crowd.

They simply were including rewards for everyone in the game. I am not claiming they are useless to everyone else, just that the group each reward is geared towards is different.

What are you talking about? You already have the badges. You don’t need to do any WvW or JP to trade them in for Exotic gear, Ascended gear, and skins. You just go to the NPC and get your stuff.

WvW and PvE share the same set of gear. You can buy stuff in WvW and take it with you to PvE.

I was happy to see all this PvP armor. I do not play any PvP so I never had any different PvP skins other than the stuff everyone gets for free as a new character. I just wanted something different from the default stuff that everyone has for when I play all the mini-games. So these free PvP gear skins are nice item to get.

I am just a bit disappointed in the RNG because of the number of duplicates I have gotten out of the Achievement chests. I have destroyed 12 pieces so far that were duplicates. When I look in my PvP locker and see all the huge number of pieces I could have received, it makes me cry a little. It makes me sad to think about all the ones I had to trash because they were unneeded duplicates that I could not store in the locker.

Rule of thumb, you get a gift you say thank you very much. You don’t like the gift, as soon as the giver leaves you stuff it in the trash.

Whining about a gift because it isn’t just what you wanted is very bad manners and your parents should have spanked you more.

One of the biggest complaints I read about sPvP is PvEers saying “I want to look cool in PvP but right now, I don’t!” You people just got thrown a huge bone and what do you do; complain about how worthless the PvP gear is. Sometimes I think there’s an entire generation of children that just take pleasure in complaining about the most trivial nonsense.

No one did answer the question of how to get a pvp salvage kit without doing pvp. Nor was the question of how to turn them into dyes.

Personally, for people who play casually, going through days – maybe even weeks- to get a chest that is filled with pvp skins is frankly not worth it. It is cosmetic. Especially when those skins are account bound and many of them CAN’T be used on your class…Maybe transmute crystals instead if it had to be something cosmetic.

The PVP gear you get from the chests can be also used in Activities, for some weird reason Activities use your PVP gear, not your PVE gear. So, in order to look pretty while playing Crab Toss you don’t have to play PVP but instead get some Achievement points.

The Badges of Honor can be used to get the cheapest EXOTIC gear of most stat combinations you’d ever want. Just a couple of coins + some badges and you can have an EXOTIC set with a variety of stats.

Other than those, gold boost, experience boost, magic find boost, karma boost, gold (30g for the 5k APs), 400 GEMS every 5k APs, I wouldn’t call those useless in PVE. The complete opposite.

And I just noticed this is a 7 month old thread that someone (see above) necroed. Shame on me

I agree, this thread is super-necroed, but….

Wiki is your friend: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Salvage_Kit Surely, you still have glory from your Chalice of Glory, or from when Activities gave out glory. Use it up quickly, though, it’s about to disappear.

And for dyes: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_forge#Player_versus_Player
You can also upgrade Siege weapon blueprints in the forge, and then sell them, if you so desire.

Oh, and don’t forget, PvP armor skins will soon be usable in PvE, and vice versa. So, they aren’t useless. And since they are Account-bound, one of your characters of each class could use them. If you don’t have at least one character of Light, Medium, and Heavy, they are fun to try out and play! Plus, the armor takes up no space since it sits in the locker. Win/win! =)
