Here’s a hunch that I have, tied into the new achievement point rewards, will be an entire achievement tree dedicated to precursors. They said they want to introduce a scavenger hunt for precursors and a place where players can see their progress. Both of those fit in the achievement point mold. Rewards from achievements are account bound so that would keep the precursors somewhat relavant in the trading post also.

what do yall think?

while everyone waits for a scavenger hunt precursor, you have the time to collect the gold to get you one .. i already did it twice.

No. The reward will not be a precursor.

ArenaNet is not going to do an about face on the rewards front. This game has consistently been very very reluctant to grant valuable rewards.

If you expect them to change direction and start handing out precursors you are only setting yourself up for disappointment. Expect a chest that gives you (at most) a rare, and most likely masterwork gear or a couple of silver at different thresholds.

don’t expect the reward to give you a precursor. and don’t expect a precursor scavenger hunt. because we have been waiting for that to happen for 9 months. that’s more than a half of a year and makes me feel like my times been wasted.

Nah, they won’t be handing out precursors. That would devaluate them and make legendaries the most common skin in the game. They’ll introduce new skins instead to provide us with a higher variety of choice

aight quick clarification, 1 i’m not “waiting” for it, 2 working on other pieces of the legendary right now, 3 just got the game a couple months ago so i’m no where near established enough to even remotely afford a precursor, 4 the devs have already said multiple times that they want to work on another avenue for players to obtain a precursor, i’m assuming if they added it into the game BASED on what they’ve already said it would fit best into the achievements rewards. I’m also assuming it wouldn’t be a few easy achievements…it would probably be a whole slew of them that took a lot of time to get. Having the precursors account bound would also not devalue the ones on the TP.

Yeah, after 9 months I’m jaded. I haven’t watched the IGN thing, but my experience has been that ArenaNet tends to be very stingy with rewards and loot. I’ve had a lot of patches where I got excited about this reward or that only to discover that the rewards were not what I expected. The most recent being the WvW chests.

There are lots of reasons why a precusor probably isn’t on the table. The most important one being that precursors are the final gate to getting a legendary, and obtaining legendary is what is suppose to keep people logging in month after month. Therefore, IMO anything that reduces the time it take to get the skin decreases the amount of time people will spend playing the game.

They wouldn’t have mentioned a precursor hunt if they would just be willing to hand them out for achievement points. Plus it would devaluate those on the TP – less people willing to buy them = price drop.
