I have loads of achievements in my hero panel I haven’t completed and I’ve been trying to work my way through these.

I have played in the beta and since the beta including GW1., some 2000 hours on GW2 (Not a lot by some standards).

I’m having a lot of problems (and frustration) because most achievements give no clue as to where they might be, I don’t want to keep looking on Dulfy, Youtube or some other such website.

For example the achievement, (And I’ve just picked one at random) “Covered In Bees” Description reads " Use a honeycomb to avoid taking damage from the Mordrem Vinewrathe’s beam while fighting the Mordrems beekeeper" OK I know it’s in the Silverwastes, brilliant, so I wander around the Silverwastes hoping to stumble upon this achievement.

Or I can minimise the game and look on it up Dulfy, but I didn’t want to become a sort of “Researcher”, I do look at it as cheating a little bit.

With the (Hopefully) massive influx of new players starting from level one, and the addition of HoT they will find it equally or even more frustrating than I am after playing from the outset.

How about a clue in the description of the general area an achievement can be found in, around this waypoint or this point of interest, a few, not many, actually give some sort of clue to the area.

Adding in a tracker for achievements like Lost Coins, and Golden Coins would be a really good thing too. Doesn’t have to be as extravagant as the Karka one, but just numbed ones so we could use a guide without having to comb through them all again. (Maybe a metal detector to point us in the correct direction of missing ones too?)

I don’t see how that achievement description can be any more clear.

You must stand behind a honeycomb during the beam attack being done by the Vinewrath when fighting the Mordrem Beekeeper.

There is only one Vinewrath and he only has one Mordrem Beekeeper. Find a honeycomb and stand behind it.

That said, there are a few that need some additional tracking (instead of just listing paths 3/4 are done, tell us which are done/not done, etc.).

I did say I picked that one totally at random, the general implication of the post is that many achievements are difficult to locate, and I don’t want to have to rely on a 3rd party website to tell me where it is.

Mtpelion, I think the OP doesn’t know the SW/Breach/VW cycle, so s/he is looking for the beekeeper all over the place.

If you don’t want to look it up or ask (and I can respect the stance of wanting to figure it out all by yourself), then for your example clue you just need to spend time in SW learning the cycle. Once you have figured out fort defense, bull escort, and the boss fight, and then tried out the three lanes on VW (which gets a huge red circle with arrows pointing to the lanes on your map), you’ll have found the beekeeper and probably gotten that achievement just by doing the fight right.

Sure, there are some achieves I can’t figure out without a guide, or I get without meaning to just from playing. But a lot of them only require you to become familiar with the area where they occur and then you understand the clue and need only work on the mechanics of achieving the requirements.

Heck, if you want to figure it out yourself, don’t ask them to spell out exactly step by step how to do it!

It’s nothing to do with the beekeeper, it’s about the, just a rough guess 100 maybe or more achievements I have left to complete, after playing since the start of the game.

There’s only so many hours in the day which many people will be able to play, I don’t see anything wrong with a little clue as to where an area is, let’s face it we can all look it up if we want to, so why not just give a clue to save us having to keep switching between websites.

People starting off, new from level one, will find this quite frustrating.

I should have guessed to “Beekeeper” achievement would be a bad idea as an example

The actual achievements are pretty self explanitory if you view them just browsing or doing content as it was intended (Drytop, SW, dungeons etc)

HOWEVER, for say, jumping puzzles, there’s no clues. I suppose the UI could have an event-esque popup stating there is a jumping puzzle near by. This would disable for those who already completed the puzzle and got the achievement for it.

Jumping puzzles are part of the list of achievements, and yes I haven’t got a clue where many of those are either.

And yes of course some are very simple “Kill 100 golems” or whatever, many of the achievements are self explanatory in what to do, but NOT where this achievement might take place.

I disagree that achievements are hard to understand. However this is probably because I read the wiki, forums, patch notes of what is being added before I even log in or start to think about achievements. For example, I see the beekeeper achievement added in silverwastes category, I think ‘What has been added in point of no return?’, I realise it is vinewrath so I conclude it must have something to do with this. It’s not that hard from there.
Looking at it from the perspective of someone who does not read forums/wiki at all and does not play every day, I see how it could be a bit confusing because there is achievements from so many different categories and no real way to tell which is which. You should be able to understand them after a while though. When silverwastes was first added I had no clue what all the achievements were asking for but after playing it for a while, I learnt them and got pretty much them all very soon after I started to actively try to get them.

Like I said suffish.4150, I don’t want to become a researcher and I don’t want to have to wade through the wiki, forums or any other 3rd party website, and I’m sure many other people don’t want to, or don’t have the time to do that.

I just want to play the game, and I (Personally) feel more could be done (Not just some vague clue), to point people to the correct area.

And as I have said, especially with so many new players joining.
