Actual Raids or Mindless Zergs? Whats better?
I choose option C
…neither

thanks for the fantastic input
Well why does it have to be either/or?
Zergs are more intense. You’re fighting not only a horde of mobs but also an everpresent lag!
Even WoW Raids are very similar to mindless zergs, the only difference is that you actually have 3-5 players that need to pay attention.

Well, last phase wasn’t that bad, i was thinking that phase 1 would be better off as an instanced raid for, say, 20 ppl, instead of disappointing and boring lagzergfest we got in LA.
Thinking zergs, ideally. Otherwise, i’m good with the mindless zergs. Everything is more fun in a zerg and out in the open, even mining a resource node. Think about it! :P
And I do dig the minimalistic instanced group. I used to really like dungeons before they ruined the game for me. But yeah, if you manage to do whatever the hamsters did to this game, you’ll get them to change the game to whatever you want.
Mindless zergs allow people to kitten out…go mining nodes…stand around do nothing except tap and kill a few enemies and get the reward.
Thats the other thing thats bad about this system, lazy people not doing their share. Raids at leat do better to fight this part.
These aren’t mutually exclusive. You can have world raid content with multiple objectives that a coordinated group of players need to achieve.

Typical type of comments I left WoW for.
You tell people to try to be grown up.. and yet you spout of something like this. Don’t get the logic.
I’d rather not have WoW-style Raids here. I prefer the ‘mindless zerg’ as you call it.
No gear score checks. No listening to ‘OHMAGAWD MY DEEPS YO’.
Just good ol’ fashioned fun.

That was only true in vanilla wow… they have evolved since then.
I think that they should forget PvE and focus main thing which is WvWvW.

They could divide the island into hot spots and assign players diffrent tasks, thus having fewer people on one spot. A massive zerg is just no fun. A raid of 20 people (no gear score) with tasks to do, beats a mindless zerg.

BC had evolved a little, but afterward it got worse again.

If it’s well made, raids.
I’m all for raids, even with some bads in them, beats having an entire zerg of bads with a few good players.

I came to play to…
I hate gear score…Ive never used it in WoW.
I was in a good WoW guild that didnt cry about DPs either
But still think about it…people wiping on the lost shore events…lay around 30 minutes expecting to get rezed while most of us spawn and run back….people laying around dead and people right next to them mining…
That just seems unfair to me.
This does not seem like good ol fashioned fun to me
Hell fire – is this a windup?
I would say yes to a raid like dungeon but its a huge event without the kitten minions they have in dungeons doing insane dps with even more insane hp.
Events as they are im fine with when they work lol. Sure any large group you will get a couple players just draging their feet in terms of pitching in on the farm. Dont blame them, blame the fool that put it into the game.
Raids are basically just zergs with enough self-delusion to think that they’re not a zerg.

Everything is a zerg with a #number# of players together in your logic.
Wouldnt things like this be better in an actual instance with a raid sized group? 20 – 30 people or so.
No
It would have been really awesome as a 5 man instance though.

No. Raids are just inherently the same mindless dumb play as a zerg, only instead of being the video game equivalent of scribbling randomly with a crayon held in a fist, it’s the video game equivalent of scribbling with a crayon held in a fist while trying to stay in the lines of a colouring book.
And somehow (Solar flares? Phases of the moon? Group hallucination?) people come out on the other end thinking that it took skill and coordination.
I much prefer the zerg to a raid.
Why? I can’t be bothered to find that many people who:
Aren’t incompetent
Have schedules that match 19-39 other people’s schedules — CONSISTENTLY WITHOUT INTERRUPTION
Aren’t going to /gquit as soon as they get the gear they were after and are now suddenly acceptable to a larger raid group
With a zerg, if you have to go afk because your cat is on fire, it doesn’t bother me one bit. you don’t have to tell me. i don’t have to wait for you. With a zerg, if I get bored, I just.. leave. That’s that. I don’t have to say bye to anyone, I don’t have to feel bad about letting the rest of my raid group down just because I need to wake up early, it’s just.. bam! Who cares! Have fun for as long as you’re having fun.
Raids… man that garbage is for the birds. I don’t even like being around that many people at once IRL, why should I enjoy being around that many in a game. Hell, you find me 19-39 people I can actually even tolerate to be around, you’ll get a cookie.
Naw man, naw. No raids. I’m not going to depend and be depended on by people I don’t care to associate with.
small mans are much more fun than zergs and raids
that event was BORING
Apparently you never did Melandru, Grenth or Lyssa.
Apparently you never did Melandru, Grenth or Lyssa.
appreantly I have plenty of times….
those are the worse….finding people who have the ability to think and work at all 3 locations..at the same time… in order to bring the barrier down and then keeping it down…and then going to the boss or retreating back to a fallen location….these are lol events in a zerg scenario
Or people all pulling the NPC into the boss in the Grenth event and getting him killed….
Then when people complain they get flamed by the people screwing up who are just saying they are there for fun…especially multiple times into the same event..
Being ignorant does not = fun
