One thing that would make gw2 pve, pvp and wvw more enjoyable would be a revamp of the trait system. I like where it was going with the last patch, but it can be altered a bit more for an increase in build diversity.
The trait system should just be 5 blank bars with the current + / – buttons and the hexagon symbols we see for traits. When an individual adds 1 point into the bar to start a bar, they should be prompted to pick what 2 stats they want this bar to increase (power + toughness for example). Then, the minor hexagon should give a choice to the player of the 5 current single-point traits available. When the player moves to the bigger hexagon after 2 points, then the choice for the player would be all first-tier large hexagon choices available to the class (generally the I – VI skills of each bar).
If the player wanted to start a new bar, then they may add the point and select 2 new stats that have not already been selected (healing power + vitality for the current example). When the player is prompted to select another mini hexagon, then their selection is limited to the previously unpicked minor hexagons available to that class in first tier.
Where some discussion can be used -
I personally prefer that the minor hexagons (first, 2nd, 3rd tiers) should open up like the major hexagons. For example, I think this system proposed should allow tier 1 mini hexagons as choices for tier-2 and tier-3 mini hexagons. An addition of two tier-1 traits would be helpful as to allow an individual to hypothetically select all tier-1 traits for mini hexagons (though I would hope tier-2 and tier-3 remained strong enough that all tier-1 traits doesn’t actually become a thing other than for liberation). I know some people will want to keep the mini hexagons closed, but it might be a benefit to the mini hexagons like we see in the major hexagons.
I think this system would open this game up into something we can all appreciate and enjoy even more
