Adding russian language to the game?
This has been requested many times and the response is always that it would be too expensive and time consuming to do.
Even if they just add the Cyrillic alphabet for chat they then need to employ support staff who can read it in order to handle reports against players who were writing in Russian and other Cyrillic languages.
Translating all the text in the game involves employing staff to translate it, which would be an on-going project because every new Living Story chapter, expansion etc. would need to be translated. And voice acting would be even more expensive because they’d need a bunch of actors. The player character’s lines have to be recorded 10 times each (male and female of each race), and then there’s all the other characters.
It’s certainly possible for them to do it, but apparently Anet don’t consider the Russian audience (the ones who aren’t already playing the game) big enough to justify the cost.

Well, as massive a job it is, they did do it for other languages. The thing is, when game devs release East Europe languages it usually goes hand in hand with them also releasing East Europe servers.
