Addressing issues with Champion monsters

“The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.”
This is not a champion problem, but a problem for low level maps.
You have already done everything there so why bother to go back?

You can thank the November 15th NGE-redux (Star Wars Galaxy reference…) for that. :-P Everyone is in fractals now, grind grind grinding for that next tier of gear.
Isn’t that a fun and unique MMOing experience?! =D Shame no other games thought about gear grinding. This is a huge improvement over the crappy open world, exploration based and aesthetic farming gameplay we had pre-Nov 15th!
Don’t blame Anet if people want to get those 20 extra points of stats, when already having 1800 to begin with. What you are trying to say is that the players should be protected from themselves. Like children playing with fire. And new content should not be added because, dawwwww, players might get into a (mostly useless) farming binge.

I suspect ANet’s problem is that WvW, a very unbalanced place, has become a much bigger deal than their vaunted sPVP. So people grind fractals to get those extra few numbers to bring into WvW, tho they will make less than a percentage difference in the grand scheme of things.
Tho i suspect there are some that grind fractals simply for the chance to boast about hitting some high number without the maw melting their face for appetizer.

Rewards from both champions and veterans were supposed to already have been boosted. Obviously they werent. One little vague answer in the latest AMA, other than that, complete silence from the devs, which is very disheartening.

I have nothing against gaining an extra 20 points in stats, as long I don’t have to relentlessly grind a dungeon to get them, but Anet already knows that. Too bad they are doing boom all to correct that mistake.

15-30% stat increase across the board would come out to a couple more than 20 out 1800.

Is that if you come back to them you can solo them with ease.
=/ i’m soloing every champion in queensdale and many other low level zones.
And they will most likely oneshot you if you come to them on the respective level in the gear you are supposed to be at that level.
Being even one level above the mob seems to have a serious beneficial effect on survivability. And adding a second or third toon to the fight even more so. 1 on 1 with a same level mob is a slog tho.

Thanks for the info on easy champions in Queensdale. I had been looking for a place to test the champion drop rates without needing a group. Should be able to solo them with a dungeon runner lvl 80 warrior in full exotics with no problems, right? I killed a bunch of veteran risen in Orr yesterday doing Balthazar’s temple and got a couple rares but no exotics. Since the Nov 15 patch I have gotten 3 exotics from drops, didn’t pay attention to what dropped them, but it wasn’t champions.

It would. But where are you gonna find a 30% stat increase in GW2?
3 ascended items will get you 33 points in a stat, yeah? Which is < 2% change. Perhaps the other ascended slots, when they’re finally added to the game, perhaps they’ll be a lot bigger.
What’s it got to do with the supposed increase in vet & champ drops?
I think the big mistake was in saying you’ll always get loot from a champion. Cuz colored loot drops and especially rare+ are so rare that players really can’t discern changes. But now every vet whose corpse doesn’t sparkle makes you remember this, and makes you feel like you were sold a bill of goods.
