Recently there have been a lot of “[XY] looking for new members, join if interested” posts in the LFG Tool. I used to report them for abusing the LFG Tool – but now I am wondering if it really IS a kind of abuse?

Imho it was designed to help players find a Group to help them doing whatever, and not for Guilds to find new Members, at least the open world section of the LFG Tool.

What’s your opinion about this?

I think it depends somewhat on the context. If you’re joining the group to do content right now, I think it’s okay. For example, if I’m training new guild members on a dungeon and we have space, I might open up an LFG and say “Training for ACp1 – must join [MEGA] voicechat – recruiting for guild, but all welcome.” That could probably work.

If it’s just an LFG that’s opened to try to quickly get members – join the party, get a guild invite, leave the party – I think that’s LFG abuse.

I’m hoping ArenaNet’s increased focus on guilds means we’ll have better recruiting methods in HoT.

I’m only talking about Guilds trying to recruit Members.
If there was a section for that on the LFG Tool, it would be nice – but I have to say I don’t think it belongs in the OW section or elsewhere.
If I imagine every Guild would do this – and only if it was in my language – I would have to scroll for ages to find a group I am actually looking for.

For this reason alone I think that those single Guilds who do this – or at least the Persons hosting those groups – should get a statement about if the LFG Tool is – or is not – ought to be used this way.

Evven though I hope it is not ought to be.
